Finally another Yoyo Design 101 video, great! Perfect timing actually, I'm hoping to make my own as part of a university workshop, so this should help a lot.

Thanks, Zach! I have an idea that I'd like to run by you privately. If you would be interested in lending an ear for a minute, could you let me know how I could share it with you? You're the only knowledgeable person I trust to talk to about it.

Would you be able to show the specifics of design for a more speed oriented yo-yo? I mainly do stopped combos and grinds and was always curious as to what that would look like. And also if I don't see any video you make for a while it's because I'm getting deployed so hopefully in four months I can take a look!
@Zachthesloth8 жыл бұрын
Good luck on deployment! And as for a speedy yoyo, the criteria you should design around are a wide gap to rpm ratio to prevent snags, low walls and high rim weight to maximize stability, and either an H shape or a V shape to minimze surface area exposed to your fingers in the profile to minimize friction on thumb grinds. I wont be able to make a video on each specific design type, but I hope this helped.

This is awesome! This series is amazingly informative and interesting! :D I'd personally love do see a video about modern plastics (like polycarbonate and delrin) and inserts, as well as weight rings for both plastic and metal yoyos. That's a list of wishes, not demands, what you do is your choice :P But, more importantly, why is your character getting progressively more injured every episode? Are there really that hard to make?
@Zachthesloth8 жыл бұрын
TheSommeguy hah! good question. idk. I'm usually only good at drawing simple fashion items, but I can draw scars pretty okay

I take a drafting and design class that uses solid works and I'd like to attempt to design a yoyo one day. I'm pretty sure there's also cnc lathes at my university as well that I might be able to get at. So I guess I just need to figure out more about solid works >_>

Is there any app I can use on my android phone to design my own yoyo
@liamjack59447 жыл бұрын
I would like to design my own yoyo and would like to use the bearing/axle/response base used in your videos, but I can't get all of the proper dimensions from the images. Would you be able to upload a file/image?

You mentioned you've designed a lot of yoyos. Can you name some? Ever made something for one of the "big guys"? (yyf, clyw, od, etc)
@travisthree113 жыл бұрын
Most. Like, a lot. I want to get others opinion on the fact only a small few people design for all these brands and it's never mentioned.

Yoyo Design 102, plastics?
@Zachthesloth8 жыл бұрын
In the context of historical designs or modern plastics?
@zeevyehuda25018 жыл бұрын
Modern plastics. I've been getting lots of questions about how to design inserts

Ooh, throw weight rings in there too. Generally, press fitting
