I feel like this is such a perfect sequel. It leaves the first story intact but carries on the themes with new characters, with enough older characters and little references to give original viewers a touch of nostalgia. It feels like a sequel, but could also be standalone and you can tell the author kept what people loved about NiF (themes of loyalty, greed, bonds, choice and consequences) but provided a new fresh story and a very different kind of main character with different focuses and goals. I also love that Pingjing is the "rightful" emperor if the conspiracy hadn't occurred in season 1. It's been established that he's super smart and capable, but his personality isn't suited for the rigidity of nobility life. Not to mention the current emperor's talent for ruling is debatable. So, not saying it's great that Prince Qi was framed and killed, but it just feels very poetic that as a result of everything that happened, Pingjing is able to live the life that he wants. On the other hand, I also really liked Yuanqi being the one to stumble across Mei Changsu's old manor, because I feel like the story of Mei Changsu helping Jingyan to the throne is everything Yuanqi wanted for himself.

100% This drama is absolutely beautiful. Close family ties, trust and loyalty shown in Changlin Mansion/Army. I even envy the brotherly love between Pingjing and Pingzhang. It's a Wow!! I also Iike every single line of encouragement and advice given in different situations.

I love this series. The storyline is flawless, the events are logical and the characters are consistent with their attitudes. The ending is just perfect with all the villains being reckoned with. Dii Ming’s sacrifice was an admission of his folly. Pingjing’s wise words against the delusional and mad Xiao Yuanqi was very enlightening.

Hv watched nirvana in fire season 1 and 2, still can't conclude which is the best, I cried in both, but this season is absolutely heart warming, gosh d brotherly bond, the fact that pingjing still came bk to rescue daliang despite the fact that his family were betrayed, hurt and brought down after all their devotion to the king and country, after contribution in the battle feed, the court and all in making the country better, he still came bk at the last to rescue, even after losing his father and brother I cried so much, that's selflessness, don't think I would ever return back to daliang if I was d one, I love pingjing so much, his acting skills and that of his father is out of the world, they deserve great award🥰 but I still don't know why I still feel emotional right now, I just wanna cry, this movie hit so hard, when I watched season 1 I cried till I fell asleep, now season 2😫😫 the most painful part was when lord Changlin, pingjing dad died, I cried so hard, I saw it as him sacrificing his life to save pingjing, so he won't b persecuted for his own good, he supported his son with his last breath, and fell down😥 anyways guys if you are just here for the first time, make sure u watch to the very end!

Seems like series was in 3 acts--some characters in each act given more time/meaningful dialog to really shine. Pingjing's was this last act.

I followed everything from start to finish and thank you for the English subtitles. Great with great actions, dramas, emotions, Chinese martial arts and also the wonderful loyalty of the Changlin family. I really admire the great Chinese actors, especially Liu Hao Ran alias Ping Jing and Zhang Hui Wen alias Lin Xi. This also applies to the brotherhood between Xiao Ping Zhang (Huang Xiao Ming) and Xiao Ping Jing (Liu Hao Ran). Qiao Xin alias Xun Anru showed her excellent performance in her supporting role. Not an easy role in the relationship with Wu Hao Chen alias Xiao Yuan Qi as well as the understanding of her family Xun. I am very excited about the further sequel "Nirvana in the Fire 3" as well as the acting team... Congratulations!

This ending was perfect! I read a few reviews about NIV 2's ending being unsatisfying but this was exactly how it should have ended. It's always a little sad when the main character with so much talent and promise leaves the others but the audience knows they're leaving for a happier, more peaceful life. I wish Pjngjing and Lin Xi the brightest future in the world!

Wonderful story lines, sweeping landscapes, tremendous music, and of course- FAR more emotional than any other drama I have watched. Such a good generation change script. Standing on its own, the film has some great acting, dialogue, music and cinematography. I find, calling it a sequel made NIF2 harder to watch, mainly because of the difference in tempo from the tighter Nirvana in Fire 1. After a couple of false starts with long intervals, I usually stopped after the first 3 episodes, I finally got caught into watching the whole NIF 2 after starting from the middle and then later returned to watch the early episodes. Now I have watched it 3 times from beginning to the end. I am glad tho' for all the small references to NIF1 and made me watch NIF1 again. I read somewhere that most c-dramas are dubbed, and so was also pleasantly surprised with the choice of timber for the emperor. Thanks to all involved parties. loved the subtitling

Great story and super acting again. The Chinese are masters at sharing their culture and history for all the world to see. Lots of kowtowing and bloodshed but in the end the hero was saved by his bracelet which he received from his teacher on the mountain.

Although the story line was different than Nirvana in Fire 1 and not really a sequel, it has a perfect well written story line on its own. The acting was phenomenal, the chemistry of the characters as a whole was fantastic, well directed and the scenery and costumes were just beautiful. The only minus is the end theme and how some horses looked if they where just picked out of the slaughter house 26:07 (just bones with a hairy skin, loathful). This series gets a 8 out of 10

What an exceptional drama this was... really enjoyed it thoroughly. Only wish was that Pingjing got a MASSIVE send off @ the end. Emperor, the cast of thousands on the wall, around the wall- big , bold music and either a salute from all or a chant... with tears in PJ's eyes... that would have done me well- given all he went through... before he rides off to meet his love.

@@tonkatrucker yes, I cried like a fool all through the show. 😂 I came here to follow up on NIF which I watched when I was a bit detached (some issues going on so I had to detach so I really didn't feel the emotions much though I could see them). I broke down there days after I finished watching NIF while I was taking a shower so I had a delayed reaction for that. I jumped into Love Like The Galaxy after that, which kind opened the flood gates for me. I was back to being able to cry easily in that one. The Emperor and his two wives had a relationship that made me cry a lot, especially the situation with the Empress, it was a great relationship but there was also a lot of pain there. But the main couple had issues and I got traumatized... so I ran to NIF to find a couple that could heal me and Ping Zhang and Consort Meng did that for me. Their relationship was so ... they were soulmates, I really liked that. Because I was coming from LLTG and it's frantic pace and quick pay off, NIF 2 seemed boring at first. But I was just my brain trying to adjust from a fast to a slow pace. Just like when I came from Secret of Three Kingdoms and had to slow all the way down with A Dream of Splendor. Both shows are tier one for me but they are different from each other. But they are well written and excellent so I love them both. The FL in LLTG did the ML dirty so a few of us that noticed that got scarred. So one of us suggested to go back to watch The Long Ballad where the main couple wouldn't scar us. It will be my first time watching it. Even if it's not tier one, I will watch it. Then I will go back to my tier one shows after that that are on my list. Sometimes people recommend shows saying they are nice but they don't realize that yes, they are nice and enjoyable but are for mass appeal. So they can't really be extra extra good. Extra extra good shows tend to bore most members of the viewing public since the dialogue is usually more complex and not everything is literally spelled out for the audience. Many audience members get frustrated if things are not spelled out for them, so they are better suited to watching shows with simpler plot lines and where everything is vocalized for them (not much inference needed). God, I am rambling. Anyway, here are my tier one shows: 1. Secret of Three Kingdoms 2. NIF 3. NIF 2 4. The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty 5. Jun Jiu Ling 6. A Dream of Splendor 7. Word of Honor (yes, even this one if you are able I see beyond the flirtation and the extremely good looks - there's a layered and complex EQ story waiting for those with discernment) Tier one K-Dramas: 1. Arthdal Chronicles 2. My Country: the New Age I am reading some books so even if The Long Ballad isn't that complex my brain will still be occupied.

This guy raised a huge army in days and has a lot of power. A send of by civilians like that would create the potential for panic, so he had to slink away in silence. Well, this is the second time that I've watched this excellent series. Great upload. Almost 3 weeks ago, I finished watching 'Nirvana in Fire' (the original or '1') for the 2nd time, but this 2nd time, all 54 episodes were available. It was truly great! (1st time, 7 or 8 eps were not available). Among the '8' Chinese TV dramas that I've fully seen, I now rate 'N-i-F 1' as #2, behind my #1 (which is this 'N-i-F 2'). I enjoy these dramas, and I've tried a few others, that were supposed to be so good (according to comments and recommendations), but bailed on them after 1-3 eps, as they were not interesting, TO ME. I keep trying/looking though. Stay safe out there.

The princess though is super annoying- as she is supposed to be. To bad on Untamed, as it is the most watched of any CD in history.. and the story is quite good. Have you watched Joy of Life? If not, it is an unbelievable exercise in cerebral entenrtainment- desiigned for mature audiences... with what I'd call - shocking twists and turns.

@@edmaljones8978 Only a few episodes of Wolf to watch... then if it was me, I'd watch Joy of Life next... if you're a smart guy- I think you'll find it outstanding... and so much so, that at season 2 is currently in production. As for others.. a lot of crap out there, but my guilty pleasure was Battle Through the Heaven" ..or Fight Breaks Sphere ( same CD, but different names)...It is a .. shall we say.... Rocky /Rudy type thing, with the good for nothing teenager -who comes into his own.. It- like all of them- takes a few episodes to lay the ground work- and there are a lot of Directoral problems with it- but I overcame its flaws, and really enjoyed it alot. Let me know...

Watched it both because of liu haoran novoland was so good at the beginning for a few episodes and then the lead lady and his friend appear it was so boring I had to stop watching and started watching NITF2 sad cried a lot the only thing I skip was from ep 39- 46ish where they took ttoo much time focusing on the marquis

What a great show. This is my top 1 in the Chinese historical drama category. I wish there were more scenes with the main leads at least toward the end but had to see the villainous Yuanqi a lot. The empress dowager had an easy end for all the evil things that she did and she didn't repent much. I barely watch any show without romance but I am going to give Nirvana in Fire 1 a try.

I am glad the main couple had a happy ending this time around. Man I loved this show and cried every time they did a flashback to the first season. Mei Changsu got mentioned by Yuanqi but he didn't know the Chang Lin mansion has had Mei Changsu as a mentor (thanks to what he did for Tingsheng) so he has been up against that guy from 50 years before. I loved the writing, loved that they did things differently this time around. It was slow to start but I am glad I stuck with it. I loved the relationships, the families, the couples, the friendships, OMG I love, love, love. Feizhan, I had shipped him with Consort Meng. Like after her husband died. This guy loves her and the kid and wouldn't be seeking to replace her dead husband. Man. I had thought this was a tier two show when it started out and seemed to be dragging but heart is a big feature of this show and I love it. This is tier one, and here is my list: 1. Secret of Three Kingdoms 2. NIF 3. NIF 2 4. The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty 5. Jun Jiu Ling 6. A Dream of Splendor 7. Word of Honor These are shows with a lot of depth for different reasons. Bravo to everyone involved. Bravo!
