I think it is representative of real life. She sees Shiyi and his words/actions from the 1st person point of view (which is subjective). Whereas we, the audience, are seeing him from a 3rd person limited point of view. We see his "hidden" feelings and the actions that portray/play out those feelings. You also have to remember two things: 1. this is a high school to college show, and she started liking Cheng Lang as a teen. Those feelings grew and strongly developed (and you see that because it affects her behavior). She is a good person, and you can tell she tries to find the intrinsic goodness in everything and maybe extend that to people as well. But at the same time, she gets jealous and wants to "come between" CL and Lin You (even though there is nothing there. Also, you could argue is the reason she hasn't done anything detrimental). 2. Leading to point 2; Cheng Lang = sweet. When the story started, and she had met them both for the first time, only one stood out. Also, as a side note, remember it is natural for people to gravitate to one person more than the other. At that point, she was going through a rough patch. She moved from her childhood home, leaving her friends and everything she was familiar with behind. All of a sudden, she is the new kid who is poor (her shoes and school uniform) and is a little behind in academics, on top of all that, dealing with her mom's prejudice. She is not a typical main girl character; who, despite being poor has cute clothes (but obviously compared to the other kids, not as good, but good enough) and is sooo beautiful that all the main guys falls in love with her. Anyway, Xiaoju came to this new place, and the one person who was friendly was Cheng Lang. Like she didn't fall in love the second she met him, but feelings take root when you add the little things together. Cheng Lang is intelligent, is good at sports, and obviously, her type (physical appearance-wise). Whereas, Shiyi was rude and teasing (which I thought was adoring because they complemented each other so well). We know Shiyi and her are the best match because of their cute bickering and the apparent fact that he is totally head over heels for her. I mean, this guy is literally so patient, waiting for her, being there as a friend rather than be selfish and push his desires on to her. He is amazing, and is literally has those same characteristics she likes about Cheng Lang. He is also smart, good at sports (obviously better at basketball) but it is shown differently. Xiaoju is dealing with everything (up till now, because I don't know what she will do next) pretty well and in a natural way. She is processing her feelings and trying not to feel down. The one guy she likes has a crush on a "more" beautiful girl. (Society's standards because we all know everyone is beautiful and I will not stand for a woman putting down other women). Also, intelligent, amazing competitive dancer, kind, and a good friend. Like, I don't know about you all, but Lin You is so sweet; like I am pretty sure if she knew Xiaoju likes CL, Lin You might stop her relationship with CL, and try to be there for Xiaoju in the best possible way. (Partly due to the fact that she had a boyfriend). She just doesn't give off malicious vibes...yet. JKJK, I think she will be nice for remaining of the show. 😳 wow this got super long. I see some people blame Xioju for not understanding shiyi'love. But I can see why she doesn't get it. Since the first episode, he teased her. They were fighting like kids While the other boy treats her like a gentleman. As a girl, I don't like to get teased. Even though he was with her every day he treated her like a kid. So it's natural for her to be fallen for him because everyone likes to be treated nicely. Of cause, she can't help but be sad about her crush being with another girl. It's her first love, so it's hard to forget about him. She needs time. The scriptwriter did a great job in writing each character. So it feels natural to me. I love shiyi's character because he is patient and understands the girl well. He knows when she is hurt and tries to make her feel better. He knows that it's not the time to confess. If he confesses, she is gonna be lonely because he will become a stranger. After all, he is her best friend who listens to her everything. In the end, they will become a couple who love each other. I like this drama because it shows the real feelings of humans such as pain, love, jealousy, loneliness etc. It is realistic.

This drama is on fire bzc it's every seen is relatable...they not only show love story but also explain all aspect of life....it is said life will be always complicated but u have to live it now..otherwise u will lose time... this drama shows noone is perfect..but still we have to give our best like shiye has an blood phobia as an medical student, xiaxiue were an average but she managed to get into key University, and still she failed in accounting, then she realised that she have to change her major...and litao gets that she is not really sure about her relationship, chau lang is guy who lost hid father in car accident, work partime in oder to manage his expenses, he even save internet expenses he does not have computer though he's major is computer science, Lin is a girl whose parents get divorce and she got broke up with his boyfriend , etc.....it is more than love story and less than imagination...it's perfect drama I ever seen....🥰🥰

If you know Hindi (Just guessed cuz your username seems Indian), you can take it as as the "Natakiya Vidambana Alankaar" for Hindi literature. In a story, when a plot or part of a plot is known by the audiences, without the involved characters knowing it, it is called Dramatic Irony. Now apparently, we all know who loves who, and what's going on between Shiyi and Xiaoju, Cheng Lang and Lin You, Shiyi and Cheng Lang, and the circle of Letao, Huang Jun and Menglu, but they know nothing. And this lack of conversation has been happening since ep 1 and it's ep 24 already. So I find it heavy. Hope you got it!!

Yes, me too 😍😍 and I already loved Hu Yi Xuan a lot since the sleepless princess. Both the leads have done an amazing job and I really want to see them paired up again (even though I haven't finished this one yet🙈) , particularly would be interesting to see them in a period drama together 😍😍😍 they both have a lot of experience with period dramas plus they both look amazing in period styling 😍😍😍

I can totally relate on this episode especially when shiyi asks xiaoju about her course in 19:28. I am really jealous about my friends dream because they already knew what they want and the course they want to partake (note: I am a freshman college whose soon to be sophomore this august, so I absolutely understands what xiaoju is feeling especially when shiyi asks what xiaoju really wants and honestly speaking what xiaoju answers is what I am feeling rn). I also consider shifting course (I am actually a poitical science student) but as what xiaoju did to test his feelings for cheng lang on partaking the competition and then fall which made her feel embarrased. I also tried to restarted a game that I already played a long time in order to have better stats but I have to start from scratch again in maintaining good stats, but what happen is that I realized my other account was better and now I absolutely freaking regret why I deleted my account....... so what I got is that once I made a decision there is no turning back because life isn't a game to have a restart. :'(
