That was one serious workout for Yoyoka. She's so young but was able to handle it so perfectly with really awesome power. And it didn't seem to stress or fatigue her. I really can't explain what it is that gives people like her the ability to become so outstanding at such a young age. BTW Wave, thank you for your insight. At least in Japan, Cozy was the icon of double bass drum style. He influenced many drummers to change their style to double bass. And "Kill the King" was the most iconic tune for double bass drum. Still a masterpiece in 2021!! Yoyoka definitely inherited Cozy's vibes!! Wild off beat hi-hats and the double bass/tom works during the guitar solo!! She is so versatile, AMAZING!!

As I have seen almost all of Yoyoka’s covers/performances, it’s almost a given to expect the power and impeccable technique. Her playing makes you forget again that she’s still a ‘baby’. She thrives with these complicated pieces which really showcases her awesome skills and put a shine on her gift. Such a joy to watch. Just letting her sticks do the entertaining. And I’m highly entertained. Like you Wave, I’ve never heard of this song and group and I’m learning so much from this young lady. She introduced me to songs or artists that I’m not familiar with and I’m so grateful. Can’t wait to see who she’s covering next. But I hope (I have an inkling) the next time I see her will be at the closing of the #Olympics. She seems pretty ‘quiet’ lately. 🤞🏼 Thanks for the reaction Wave. Until next time. 👍🥁🤘🏼

Amongst the other drumming legends that Yoyoka can cover flawlessly: Neil Peart, John Bonham, Carmine Appice, Ian Paice & Stewart Copeland..She can also play adequate Keyboards, Guitar & bass. Cozy was one of my most favorite drummers ever. In fact, before leaving this comment, I just had to zip over to watch Jeff Beck and Cozy Powell jam out on a heavy funk/soul/hard rock song (sounds like a Band-Maid song don't it) called "Got The Feeling" recorded live at the Beat Club in 1971. Anyway, Rainbow is a top band, but if you check them out, there were several phases of Rainbow. You want the the first phase with Dio on vocals. Cozy played on those albums. Check out "Stargazer" (amazing drum intro) and "Man on the Silver Mountain".

There are a lot of amazing points in this video, but the tempo change at 2:27 and 2:45, which you also pointed out, changed the quick whip-like hand movements into what seems like slow motion (although the foot pedal movement is the same as before). I couldn't believe that she could go from such repetitive and fast hand movements to such precise tempo changes without stopping. Also, her snare and toms are properly tuned and muted, so even when she hits them hard, it doesn't interfere with the singer's voice.

Hey Wave. I have been wondering about her finding this music, I mean she was into it liberally from age 2. There has to have been a guide in there somewhere, and its got to be her parents. Soma's are tight, you know-"the family that plays together..." Anyway. I have to give huge wraps to "the guide(s)". And I need to have that confirmed. Yoyo-san sends this one into space man. Wonderful! How is that possible at her age 😀 I saw Rainbow 🌈 in 1976 on their first tour. What a band. Cozy had a big unique sound, in many ways on a par with Zepp’s John Bonham. This is one of the best concert openers. Unfortunately Ritchie didn’t rate it as highly as the fans and left it out of his Rainbow reunion concerts in 2018. There is a DVD of a great gig in Germany 🇩🇪 in 1977 which Blackmore managed to get to at the last minute as he’d been arrested on the previous gig. He intervened when a bouncer manhandled a female fan near the stage (RB broke his jaw apparently)
