What I like most is that you are working with the people you want to work with and making the music you want to make. There is no filter or control over your music from outside forces. It’s all you. And you can be very proud of that.

I have thought about that as well - the only time I recognized a borrowed lick in her own music is, of course, the Bonham Bd triplets (if it counts) and the ending of her drum solo when she was 8 tears old at TGC2018 (at 1:00) that ending is borrowed from "Smokey" by Char kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHanmp2cibmHhtEsi=uODpM0uyKTxjYqL-&t=57

Yoyoka is getting much more comfortable on camera - her natural charisma is shining through. No mugging for the camera, no flashy outfits, just style and chops. Cool tune too!

YOYOKA has been on camera for most of her life, many interviews in Japan, all the VLOGs since moving to the US, where her dad Aki is following and filming her wherever she goes. She is now very comfortable in English, conducting interviews, live streams. It all starts with her parents who have always treated her as an equal, as have her parents friends and pretty much every musician she has encountered. She does not like attention or adulation yet is not uncomfortable in interviews. It’s a weird thing.

@@Rob-Yule We’ve watched her go from the goofy little girl to the slightly uncomfortable “tweener”. It’s just recently that I feel she is discovering her “public” personality, a glimpse of how she will present herself as a performer going forward. It feels a bit new, to me anyway.

She is maturing. As people when we get older we become more mature and less childish, usually:) She is going from goofiness, to being a serious player. I feel like one day we will see her in her 30’s and she will have the perfect blend of seriousness, goofiness, and humbling in both personality and drumming. I should say musician because she does play several instruments. Such talent and dedication she has.
