I wonder if, instead of making the well before and adding the caramel after baking, you could just press a portion of the caramel directly into the dough ball before baking. (Of course, it would have to be pressed in deeply enough that it wouldn't run out...). Fantastic recipe, by the way! My three absolute favorite things in one cookie!
