Tips: Hold the item right behind you from any green or red shells When the countdown hit 2, hold the drive button, A, If you have a bike, and you'll get the turbo boost much faster. If a blue shell is approaching: If you're behind first place, stay away from the center of the track. If you're in 1st, and if you're lucky to get a super horn, use it to your advantage. You'll also want to drift on sharp turns, or other turns to go much faster to get to 1st. If you have mushrooms or a star, keep an eye out for shortcuts, and ramps beyond the track. Use this to your advantage.

Hey yoyoshi, can I give you piece of advice? Start to charge up the motor when Lakitu gives the 2 signal and release it when he says go, that's how the turbo works, hope it helps :)
