Yes this was a breakthrough role for Shahrukh Khan but in retrospect it's an extremely over the top performance , In some scenes it's extremely hard to watch him . Srk overacted in many scenes. But SRK had a lot of charisma as a villain. I think the the movie was primarily made from a stalkers point of view. They did show the problems sunny and juhi faced. If the movie had a non charismatic villain the people would route for Sunny. It's the same with Amitabh bachan in deewar. Amitabh bachans swag and coolness made his anti hero character more heroic. Had it been some other actor playing Vijays character he would have not been so successful.
