For someone who grew up playing Ys3 on SNES, this PC soundtrack is like hearing the music with brand new ears. Not saying one version is better than the other, but it's refreshing to hear a different interpretation!

Too bad the SNES soundtrack disappointed most of people, I mean, it's not bad imo. I actually liked it, more points since that's the first version I played of Ys III.

The PC Engine CD OST version is THE definitive version of Ys 3, no question. The SNES OST is easily the worst of the bunch, the Genesis version is much superior (the base in it has incredible umph).

@@Mogura87 Genesis version soundchip had basically PC-88 version soundchip... whaddya talking of... SNES is not even bad... But I'll respect that opinion.

@@ProxDee222 I know the sound chips are similar, and the PC-88 original of Ys 3 is great too. The SNES version lack the punch of the Genesis soundtrack, it feels like a very tame arrangement of the melodies compared to pretty much all other versions I've heard at least. Of course the redbook audio PC Engine CD arrangement by Compozila is in a class of its own, it absolutely owns the Oath in Felghana arrangement. I'm generally a huge fan of Compozila and absolutely love the arrangements of Ys Book I and II, Ys 3, Ys IV and Dragon Slayer The Legend of Heroes 1 and 2 he did for the PC Engine CD.
