Really like the T-Square reference, the guitar solo is totally something Masahiro Andoh would write. Quite fresh arrangement, sound very different from the usual. Even though the original is unbeatable, this one does not disappoint. Great work from Jindo.

We can still dream thinking about that perfect adventure and game that is YS VIII with this arrangement, and with others like the sublime for Gendarme. I can say it: i really love the Ys games, they give me a lot of strong emotions and these songs are here to remember me that, while the years pass away from a chapter to another, but these emotions are still vivid in me!

This version is awesome. More rhythmically dynamic. I'd want to hear something similar to THIS version live. I like the EWI taking the melody along with adding the embellishments. It has a very dream like and retro quality, I like how everything sits nicely in the mix. More breathing room. The solos sections are cool.

Feels like Jindo really wanted to do the iconic Ys field theme a la T-Square/Masahiro Ando, right down to the EWI lead. It's not as effective as I'd like, partly because the EWI sounds too thin and reedy for the resemblance to work. But I appreciate the direction this one takes.

It's a good arrange, though the original felt more cohesive. The synth that plays the melody doesn't quite capture the feeling that I was enraptured by in the original.

Aewo agreed. The synth is definitely built for a more bolder mix, while the game mix is super light and bubbly. This feels more like Kenny G on speed. Nothing wrong with that, except for the fact that Kenny G is now doing synth leads on soprano sax and all the moms and dads are staring in horror.

@@PostmanDan87 It's less Kenny G and more Gran Turismo (or T-Square/Masahiro Ando, to be pedantic). The arrangement could have done with better instrumentation for that style, but it's a bit off-target to compare it with hyper-smooth jazz.

@@DragoonEnRegalia Was there an EWI used in GT tracks? I don't recall, but yeah, The EWI is definitely a T-Square staple - there is a rendition of GT's theme "Moon over the Castle" done by T-Square dubbed "Knight's Song" which features an EWI as its lead instrument instead of a guitar.

Was definitely looking forward to hear this arrangement since the tracklist has been announced. Just proves to me how much talent Jindo has as a composer. This arrangement specifically reminds me of his super arranged version of "Don't be defeated by a friend" (Cold Steel 1). Especially from the guitar solo at 3:22 onwards.

The original is just better. And not because it's the original. I'm not including the guitar/keyboard solos in this critique. The arrangement is all over the place, interludes where it's not making musical sense, the main synth is clunky. What was the impetus for this track here anyway? This is the first I've heard of "super ultimate".

Really now Music wise is not where Falcom has been losing it, it's all the shitty games with edgelord protagonist Rean and bunch of school angsty teenagers Back in the day stories were strong, and characters too, back in Sky saga (although in Sen III and IV music was utterly butchered too, which was barely the only good thing in the previous two, i grant you that)
