It's a lovely game - for me personally there are some things I prefer in every Ys we've worked on (VIII, IX and X), and I think which one is your favourite really boils down to the gameplay and story aspects that appeal the most to you. Played IX after VIII "man I miss the exploration" Gone back to VIII after IX "man I miss the gameplay" Played Ys X "I can't go back to any Ys after this." Falcom really put the best of VIII and IX together imo. I immediately went back and restarted at a higher difficulty because I couldn't get enough and the ending really made me love the smaller cast of characters. I know Ys games don't really have much for Post-game content because I'm guessing the next game IS the post game content but I really wished there were a few extra hours of exploring and gameplay. Karja is great and Adol seemed like he was more of his own character rather than a stand in for the player. I'd certainly pay for a Karja game if it's a continuation of Ys X but that may as well be a wish. Thank you for your content, this channel is how I heard about the Ys and Trails series and I love both of them. Appreciate your work.

I've heard some complaints regarding the numerous cutscenes and changes to the battle systems, but I actually enjoyed these additions. It was such a joy to play and experience the journey from start to finish.

I play all YS games , my first YS game YS 1&2 For the TG16 CD ROM and last one Mostrum NOX on STEAM. But my favorites are YS 1&2 from TG16 with the most stunning soundtrack and voices by the time and the unforgettable Lacrimosa of Dana. I still wait a little more for YS10 because i want a physical copy and here games take around one month later on stores. I remember a lot to Lacrimosa but i better don't see much about the gameplay until i finish the game. This kind of games are the reason that i still play video games. Thanks Nihon Falcom.

Just 100% the game and I really did enjoy it. Massive fan of the YS series for over a decade now and I thought the direction the combat and gameplay took was a step in the right direction. Personally I thought the final chapter was the worst part. Mostly because I felt the tropes they ended up pulling on were kind of tired. Other than that phenomenal. Also Hugil is the best bird and character. Hopefully we see him again. Also you mentioned Dogi not recieving any love so I thought I would mention at Anime Expo during the year YS 8 came out Toshihiro Kondo was asked about that. If I remember he said something to effect of (and I'm paraphrasing this was several years ago): "Whenever Dogi is on the screen he sort of solves every problem for Adol. If Dogi was always around then there would be no problems left for Adol to solve." The thought being Dogi's normal role in the story doesn't fit the template for a playable character or really any kind of character that takes central stage. That said it would be super cool to have a duo story with Adol and Dogi! You know, Super YS Bros: Brothership or something.

I just beat the game and really liked it. The Ys games, specially 8, 9, and now 10, really scratch an itch for me. Despite the fact that their graphics and presentation is not as high quality as some big-name JRPG's like the recent Final Fantasy games, I get far more consistent fun and enjoyment out of the Ys games than I did a game like FFVII: Rebirth. What I'm a bit upset by is that, when I beat the game, I didn't unlock any kind of extras like artwork or something. In Ys 8, if you beat it, you unlock extras that shows artwork of characters and even lets you look at the illustrations that were presented during the game, including the art in the end credits. I really liked this. I was disappointed when I beat Ys 9 and saw that they didn't include extras where you could look at its art. It looks like Ys 10 is the same as Ys 9 in that way. I don't know why Falcom won't give us a way to just look at the illustrations used during some story scenes in the game or in the end credits. Or did I just miss something in Ys 9 and 10?

Got a bit tripped up when you said this year since I played the Japanese version, but truly, the battle mechanics is one of the most satisfying systems I've played in *ANY* RPGs. Yes, *ANY*. The reward for your timed blocks is a cinematic feast for your eyes, which pays out so well that you just want to keep doing it!

I just finished this game today. I can't say yet, if it's my RPG of 2024 since also "Unicorn Overlord" and "Eiyuden Chronicle" exist I yet have to finish, but I can say that it was a great game. The new features of having the freedom for exploring islands and the ship battles were, even if not all of them very executed at its best. Like the controls of the board were really wonky, and same goes for the ship when it had no handling and speed stat. The battle system was not exactly the kind of I am used to since I loved moving towards the side instead of guarding like it is in this game. If the player guards or simply stays motioned, it is almost impossible to lose. So this game is fairly easy, a great entry for newcomers for sure. The soundtrack is definitely not as epic as like in VIII because Unisuga is missed, but still great overall. The only issue I had, it ran poorly on Switch. It started to lag heavily, if multiple enemies are fought at the same time. Was also an issue during the final boss fight. Technicalwise it was beatiful, but overrestimated this device. Definitely expect to run it better on PS4 and PC. Overall it became the longest Ys title for me with nearly 50 h, and I never felt bored which is definitely a good thing. I can absolutely recommend this game!

Now that has made me sufficiently hype. I've had my pre-order for the CE on PS5 since the pre-orders were made available in Europe, and I am so looking forward to playing it. As mentioned, no other JRPG has quiet the sense of adventure that Ys brings to the table. playing through the ys series now. its so good. how have i not known about these games earlier. hope to get around to nordics soon. upto ys 4, beat oath in felghana last night. i enjoy the shorter games. trails series has been great but minimum 50 hour playthroughs can get rough.

I'll be picking this up when it drops on the Switch! It looks really good. Hope that it being designed for the Switch means that the text will be properly scaled, unlike the nightmare that was Trails Through Daybreak.
