Күн бұрын

The 6th sonata ('A Manuel Quiroga') from my new album, YSAŸE - now out in stores and on all major digital platforms. Listen here: lnk.to/Ysaye_L...
Recorded between October 29th and November 1st, 2019 with the producer Carl Talbot, this album represents the significant impact the 6 Ysaÿe solo sonatas have had and still have on my musical identity, having performed them as a complete set in a single concert several times up to that point.
My sincere gratitude to Alpha Classics and Outhere Music for welcoming me into their family!

Wow he doesn’t over phrase any of the difficult runs and big down bows like other players, yet still maintains the integrity of a sonata and clarity which brings out the melody in a piece where the notes don’t play themselves.. honestly super refined super crisp and came out just how he would imagine it should be

I have been listening and studying you and 3 other young violinist. All 4 of you are among the best in the world. However, I am convinced now that you are THE greatest violinist in the world. Your playing and musicality move me like no other violinist in the world today. In some ways you remind me of a few of the really greats of the last century. I find myself wondering what you will be like in 10, 20 30 more years. Unfortunately, I wont be around to know. So, in the meantime, I sit back in amazement and supreme awe, and to some degree envy, and speechless adore and love your playing and artistry. I am working hard on approaching my own playing in some small degree, to mimic your sound and bowing. Thank you Kerson for the immense joy you bring to me and the world. I wish we knew more about your personal life.

Honestly the thing I admire the most about Kerson's playing is the freedom he has in his neck and head to move and still retain control over the instrument. I mean, everything he's doing is great, but a lot of players who can play all the same notes and don't have that kind of apparent postural freedom.

@medicinemadisonofficial 3 жыл бұрын
You don't have to worry about your self esteem after you have listened to this masterful performance, as long as it doesn't exist, because it cannot possibly exist anymore, it is no longer a problem, it's okay, you have been freed from the burden of having a self esteem. Self esteem is overrated anyway. As a beginner (5years) violin student I can fully relate to that 🤣 my violin related self esteem just experienced its last dying breath after the first note.

Makes the violin resonate more overtones if done correctly (according to Leopold Auer iirc). It also gives him way more freedom in movement by alleviating any potential build-ups of (excess) tension. It's a very useful little trick!

Hey @Kerson Leong why do you and so many other violinists play that D♯ as a D♮ ? It's D♯in the manuscript at Juilliard, in the Ysaÿe edition 1924 and Schott reprint 1952, and in the Henle edition 2004. The Soviet Muzgig edition from 1965 does have it as D♮. Do you know where that change comes from? Lots of violinists play the D♮ and only a few play the D♯, Kavakos recorded D♮ and later recorded D♯. Thank you
