The 1st generation Ford Ranger was a very bad handling vehicle. It was not uncommon to see them totalled because of rollover. Also the rear suspension made it hard to keep the wheel from losing traction under moderate throttle. Quite a handful.

I actually owned a 1st gen Ranger, and yes, the Ranger has come very far since then. I think the old one had front torsion beam beams while the new one has moved on to double wishvones

Perhaps it is because the exterior lights also have gone oit necause the daylight sensor has been activated as in the sun came out. It sure wouldn't do to have the ambient lights on the whole time the car is occupied, dight?

This Ranger is tuned and made up for people who drive more on highway and cities, i.e. urban flavours - highway tires, softer suspension, more premium features. There are 'tougher' variants if you look at what is available. The Hilux also has a range of variants. In other cou tries you can actually choose your car specs and order one with the features you like, but here it is difficult and so tue makers come out with packages called variants.

The Ranger has a bit more power but tue two will be about the same The Platinum will be a bit more comfortable

I don't think I have driven a Fortuner 2.2 diesel; however this one with 210PS is quite awesome and the rear vented discs are a class leader.

What is the point of testing a truck without putting some weight in the back ? As an older and experienced driver shouldn't you be showing younger drivers what not to do instead of blazing through the public road ?

We arr not doing a load test. Most people dont load their trucks up, and if this channel does not suit your taste, there are many others around. It's a free country - you do your thing, and I do mine.
