I'm fortunate to have lived through that era in 1988 at 22/23 years old. Still have my original piano key 100ml edt which is almost gone but just smelling the nozzle transports me to my 1988 clubbing days (tell it to my heart, Taylor Dayne etc). I also have Kouros, Quorum, Xeryus etc etc, all in my loft. Who says you can't time travel? Thanks for the review, and I'm pleased you also appreciate it.

Jazz, My favorite one 🥂Not the Live one. the Jazz from 1988 🤗 A friend of mine who worked at the Spanish embassy gave me half a bottle of Pour Homme and it was Nuclear, since the 80s it was my favorite) then I had Kouros Eau de Sport, Kouros and the M7. Today as I write, I have a quarter of the M7, I bought it in Copenhagen in 2003 :-) two bottles of Jazz 100 ml nuclear. 🍷Ramsey, I love the way you describe the fragrance of perfumes. 🥂

Being a woman a have to say that i used to wear, to bath in it, in the 80’s. I don’t feel that it was masculine, I think of it more like genderless. And I’m VERY sorry they stoped making it.

I have a vintage bottle from circa 1994 and have just sourced a full 100ml bottle of EDT in the piano key bottle from 1992. Bought my first bottle in about 1989. It was the first secnt that got my interested in fragrance generally. I have never had the opportunity to try Jazz Prestige, but do have Live Jazz that I bought in 1998. I am also fortunate enough to have OG M7 aftershave and EDT plus a bottle of OG XS from 1993. Keep up the videos, they're great. 👍👍👍👍

@@dusanninic5372 Hi Mate, I have not had the pleasure of smelling SL Oud. I have smelt the Indian, middle eastern (needs getting used to that ❤️) and other asian Ouds. I am relatively new to the official learning part of the fragrance community. I only found out about SL Oud when I was talking to a perfume distribution and creation company. Sorry for the lengthy response instead of simple No.. lol. What are you thoughts on it?😊

Talking about YSL Jazz, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council were Syd Barrett's favourite jazz musicians, but Pink Floyd is the best ever Pop Rock band from England, in my honest opinion. In terms of fragrances, Pink Floyd is Diaghilev. There are beautiful changes from one song to another, just like the notes in a 3 dimensional glorious perfume. Unfortunately, they sold out the house and the perfumes with it. Where do you get it? Picture this: it was 1989 and I got to my brother’s home. In his bathroom I saw a bottle of Jazz and I tried it. It was love at the first sniff 🤧 I asked him to bring me one from Paris and boy I would turn heads in the clubs…..

There's a beautiful Jazz festival in Serbia, in the city of Nish, where I live. It's called "Nishville", and the date is usually during the second week in August. Come here Ramsey, be my guest. Ah this is probably my most trip down memory lane , in my late twenties and my favorite uncle Big John had this one always to hand and boy did I wear it to death lol 😂. I have a little 50 ml first edition in its box sealed in its old crinkled cellophane,liver spots on its ivory side ,but I don’t wanna open it ,kinda a homage to Big John ,a respect if you will. The La Collection version of Jazz actually holds up very well to the original. I've done a side by side comparison. Possibly a bit brighter in the top notes.

I put this in the same classification as Boucheron Pour Homme. Not by scent profile or the like but by ‘timeless classic’ and good mood fragrances. Close to signature scents for me. And both of which I have too many back up bottles 😂

Hello bro! i have bought a couple of original bottle of Jazz, based on your review! i have to admit that it's a rellay nice perfume, it reminds me (quate a lot) Ungaro pour l'Homme the firs one in red bottle, do you agree? same dihydromyrcenol+lavender vibes, with the difference that in Ungaro i fell more ambery sweet base and in Jazz a smell more the leather facet

Back in the day, I was able to collect about a dozen of the piano, key spray bottles, because Jazz was my cologne for a long time. It was my cologne up until the moment that it was canceled, which was devastating to me. I couldn’t understand why at the time, it was expensive so that I couldn’t get several bottles to keep. Well one day I was mad about something and I grabbed all those bottles and tossed them in the trash and to this day I wish I had not done that. I also had some of the refillable Santos de Cartier cologne with the leather box. I had three or four of those and tossed those as well. They had the cologne frame the bottle frame that was made of steel, and you had to turn it at the top, lift it up and you could swap out the bottle, the glass part in the middle it was one of the most beautiful bottles but it got thrown away along with the Jazz bottles that I had so then I saw that live jazz had come out and I got excited until I put my nose on it, and I was extremely disappointed It was nowhere near as special as Jazz You have probably talked me into picking up a vintage bottle to keep really to share with people that enjoy cologne to show them how great jazz was. I’m also a huge fan of Zeno I used it throughout the 90s and I just recently bought, the newer bottle which is not as good but it’s close enough and that is my fall season cologne. It really reminds me like you were saying about the leaves falling the colors of fall just like the bottle itself that dark brown color as soon as September kicks in, I start using Zeno and it really Puts me in the mood for the fall and Halloween season which is my favorite. Thanks for your post. It was definitely a worthy presentation and explanation of what Jazz is ,such a special scent.

Atien pour homme was the best fragrance ever produced which came out in 88. Ultra rare ! Jazz was the only fragrance that was on the same level.

@@Sephirothshinra No. It was called Atien pour homme. Sold exclusively at Holt Renfrew and Hudsons in the late 80s early 90s only in Canada and the US. It is extremely hard to find , one the most sought after fragrances

Year 2008. My first buying of Jazz. 25$ for 50 ml, glass bottle. So where does the world roll to with current situation and the prices??? I don't have the vintage, but I have a later formulation of YSL Jazz. Great DNA. So is the very similar DNA common of the era in Ralph Lauren Safari for Men, Escala Pour Homme, Tsar, and even Tiffany for Men, Sergio Tacchini Pour Homme, Guerlain Derby and others.

Would you categorize Cacharel pour L’Homme in here too? There’s that common spice base/component to many of these fragrances from back then, “Epicene Gamma” made by IFF. I think it’s something like nutmeg, clary sage, eugenol (clove), and some other stuff. There’s some old articles out there about it.

@@oleksandrrocks 110 euros for 100ml atomiser spray in a sealed box... rare to find them like this now unless you want to pay crazy money. You can get 50ml or splash bottles or even partial bottles for less, but I rarely buy these because there's more chance its turned from being left in a bathroom window etc and not in a cool cupboard / drawers.
