I got the black yal loafers 2 weeks ago and have worn them twice and I find them comfortable for loafers and they are narrow which my feet love and loafers that I’ve had in the past have always been too wide and not the most comfortable for my feet - absolutely love them

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry, I can't imagine what that must be like. I'm hoping you had insurance and can at least get back some of what was lost. There is a silver lining to every cloud - now that you are starting again you are even more in touch with your personal style and can go on a new journey, wiser than the first time.
