Exactly. Hackett is intentionally biased here against Teo and pretending he's not, bashing him and saying other top fighters would beat him badly. Teo would have landed more if Ortiz had engaged, Ortiz did strike back at times when they were close, but he would then run to get away. Ortiz did not show mastery of skills, he primarily showed fear to engage. Ortiz had an advantage in speed and reaction time, which is why Teo could not cut off the ring effectively and land.

This is an interesting take. He's the first person I've heard make the distinction between aggression and effective aggression. Just because Teo was pressing forward doesn't mean he was automatically effective. If we take the 4 ways of scoring a round: effective aggression, clean punches, defense, and ring generalship, and try to decide who did more of those things better (or by a wider margin) in each round, I found it really hard to give Teo more than 2 or 3 rounds.

The problem with Ortiz is that he stopped punching in the second half of the fight. He had a healthy lead with punches landed after the first 6 rounds. At the end, the punches landed were almost even. If Ortiz had kept up the offense in the second half and not just the moving and making Teo miss, he would have given the judges something to think about. I say that because Lopez is the A side and he was the one pressing the action. If there was any doubt each round, the A side would get the benefit of the doubt. Ortiz's job was to convince the judges that he was getting the better of the opponent. He didn't do that when his punch output and punches landed dropped significantly.

I respect Greg Hackett comments but Ortiz fought like he was the champion he landed 2 more shots than Teo and Teo landed 2 more power shots punch stats don't lie if Ortiz was champion or the belt was vacant he would of walked away with the win probably or he would of still probably would of still lost on Teo’s notoriety on the politics of boxing platform ..but not fighting for a title man you gotta bring it and beat the champion convincingly.. he was still thinking about his 2015 lost to Teo in the amateurs😂 Ortiz had me dizzy going around in circles ..
