This video was recorded from the end of the train and was reversed to simulate the view from the cab. This explains why the train appears to pass red signals and some precipitation appears to be moving upward. My original video (with sound) can be found here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYLcmnahr6h4kNE

Lol! The first red he blew told me he was in the rear on the Builder. The stack train in the hole was also headed in the wrong direction, as well as no headlight in the tunnel. I don't know what track speed is through the hole, but the #7 I was on went through it lickety split.

Many years ago - when it was still allowable - I spent a short while in the cockpit of a trans Atlantic flight. The pilot though himself blessed with the view from his ' office ' window, and the drivers of these trains in this area are in much the same position, aren't they ?

Video was photographed from the last car of Amtrak and then when posted to KZbin he ran the film backwards that's why there's no headlight going through the tunnel and the raindrops are going up instead of down I've seen this before on other videos that I have watched

People always ask why doesn't BNSF add a second track or enlarge the adjacent Pioneer Tunnel to elevate the bottle neck over Stevens Pass well watch this and you see the cuts and narrow areas as to why its not economically feasible to do so, let alone adding the needed side-outs as well! Living in here Western WA I know we are at the mercy of the terrain here in many many ways as it is!

I was able to get past your running this in reverse unlike so many here that weren't able to. I loved the scenery and gave really new insight on this area. I'm glad you enjoyed it. The next Amtrak routes that I plan to do are the Sunset Limited and California Zephyr, but I hope to go through this area again in the future. I'd like to get some of the Spokane to Portland section as well, so I may do a loop PDX->SEA->SPK->PDX.
