Yes Mace Windu did indeed overwhelm Palpatine. He did this by using Vappad, a form of lightsaber fighting that only Windu mastered (in fact Mace actually invented Vappad specifically to fight users of the Dark Side) the way Vappad works is that it takes the Dark Side energies of the opponent and redirects them right back at the source. In short Palpatine was not only fighting Mace (who was respectable in his own right, being a fighter on the level of Dooku) he was also fighting himself. In short Palpatine was trapped in a game of "stop hitting yourself." Vappad is also what allowed Windu to reflect Palpatine's Force Lightining.

No General Grivious was not force sensitive, he was just a swordsman. Only force sensitive people could unlock a lightsabers true abilities, otherwise it was just a sword. *Edit* the only reason he was so dangerous was due to the fact that his electronic brain could master and adapt to a warriors fighting style in the middle of combat.

Grievous wasn’t force sensitive however he did (when being turned into this monster) get some Jedi blood but that didn’t give him any power, he was just trained to hunt home Jedi and destroy them. He also was programmed to hate them. So he technically wasn’t force sensitive he just was trained in their arts, Sith, and Jedi.

Grievous wasn't force sensitive, he was a warrior on a planet that was in the midst of a civil war. One day, the republic and the Jedi showed up and were tricked into thinking that the people were trying to enslave Grievous' race were the good guys and almost destroyed Grievous. (Hence his hatred for the Jedi) Afterwards, Palpatine discovered him and made him an offer to rebuild him and train him to hunt Jedi if he joined the CIS.

Actually General grevious is NOT force sensitive at all they tried to make him force sensitive by putting Jedi blood in him but it didn’t work so the best they could do is train him to fight against jedi so he obviously wouldn’t die to a Jedi
