Right? I think that's the first and last time they ever introduced the concept of actually building your deck in a strategic way to counter your opponent (e.g., Bastion adding Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell into his deck to counter Jaden's well known Polymerization plays). It was definitely a nice change from the tired, "My deck has no pathetic cards" trope where the character draws exactly what they need, exactly when they need it lol (although it does have it's own charm).

Wouldn't be surprised that's why he didn't appear in the show with an exception of a character who looks like him as that potential would've took all credibility from the Zarc and Ray dynamic if Bastion can shut down Zarc"s usage of the Extra Deck can't say he'll use Rituals as non of his fragments Yuya, Yuto, Yugo, and Yuri never used rituals despite duelists in Yuri's dimension using Rituals (Asuka) and Yuya's Dimension having access to Ritual summoning too through Meiru
