Ah, this format was great! This was the time where I really got into competitive Yugioh and had a variety of decks with Infernity being one of them but sadly had to sell my collection a year later due to personal reasons. I am currently regathering the singles for an Infernity deck to prep up for the recently announced Time Wizard format. A great history video on Infernity, thanks for going through the ins and outs for this deck, it'll help me prepare well in advance!

This takes me back. My favorite was one of the formats after this one (right when Six Sams had their infinite) due to the 5Ds WC 2011 video game being such a good single-player dueling simulator for the game (and also Trishula was released albeit limited, so making a level 9 quickly to banish 3 cards was always hilarious), and Infernity quickly became my favorite archetype after I first looped Archfiend to make 4 Synchros and have a full backrow. Thank your for this video and a trip down what I found was my favorite time playing this game.

Always excited to see a new video! As for the background glad to see you ramping up production value, Im a fan of the shelf and the miniature easter eggs lain in the back, e.g. blood mesfist from long beach, as well as top duelist puzzle. Keep it up!

During the time Frog ftk was so insane the way it was setup by the card creators. Most consistent ftk ever imo
@YGOHistory3 жыл бұрын
Card creators? It was consistent... and JUST as good WITHOUT Mass Driver! The deck was the best control AND combo deck of the format.
@DuncanHarbison3 жыл бұрын
I dont know about most consistent ever, the monarch magical explosion deck in 2016 was really consistent, danger ftk and pendulum magician were almost always able to ftk and if you don't take hand traps into account, since about 2018 there's always been some sort of ftk possible starting from only an isolde or only needlefiber or only 2 dragons etc. Frogs were just years ahead of their time.

@@YGOHistory The infernity strategy pre Lavalval Chain and XYZ's was way too hit or miss. It would be interesting to see in addition to how many infernity players made top 32, how many infernity players registered by the first round of swiss. That goes for any format as diverse as March 2010.

Great one. I really can't wait for the Frog profile now, you've hyped it too much :) I think the videos would be a bit more enjoyable if you could have the card's picture/text up on the screen while you talk about them. It can be a bit difficult to follow when I don't remember exactly what a card does, though I'm not sure if that'd be too time consuming or something. 10/10 otherwise.

It is more a matter of getting a picture of the card that is of high quality. If I can find one - I will try to do that more often.

God I just keep coming back to this video since I love this deck so much and this video is so well-made. But I'm wondering two things: 1. Why not any Armageddon Knights? Was it not as necessary when Launcher was at 3? I know later variants could use AK to send Plaguespreader to the grave which was a fantastic workaround to Cold Wave, alongside some of the other uses Dark Grepher had in the deck as well. 2. One top I saw with this deck in July 2011 used Flamvell Uruquizas alongside Gaia for a level 6 Synchro. Was wondering for your (or anyone's) opinion on this? Seems like it would be a slightly better alternative to Gaia Knight just for the weird scenario where someone is setting up a defensive wall and having that extra piercing damage could help.
@YGOHistory2 жыл бұрын
AKnight is a reasonable card for sure. I ended up just copying the "Canadian Infernity" decklist. I prefer the Rose version. Just personal preference. Totally fine to go in either direction.
@Maximus7th2 жыл бұрын
@@YGOHistory fair enough, Rose variant is always a good choice as well, and the Canadians always had some of the best Infernity decklists. Thanks again for answering the question! Always great to hear your opinions/knowledge.

Blackwings were very important during this time. The ability to maindeck DD crow, and it's synergy with Allure, Icarus Attack, and Dark Eruption letting you buy it back for multiple uses, Blackwings are part of what kept Infernity in somewhat check, otherwise they would've been tier 0
@scythermantis3 жыл бұрын
Then what was Frog FTK; Tier -1 lol?
@YGOHistory3 жыл бұрын
I think BW was a fine anti-meta deck but a lot of decks had access to D.D. Crow. Most Saber decks used 2 by YCS Indy at the end of the format. Don't get me wrong though - BW was still absolutely a deck to consider. It had a very robust trap lineup. And Frogs were tier 0.

Joey, did you ever think of running cards like Dark World Dealings/Hand Destruction to try and get cards into the graveyard faster (even Dragged Down into the Grave) to try to get the combo off on turn 1? I am assuming Card Destruction wasn't legal at this time?
@YGOHistory3 жыл бұрын
Card Destruction was legal. This version focused more on controlling elements (spot removal, Dust Tornado, Book of Moon, etc.) as opposed to combing as fast as possible.
