Battlin' Boxers are seemed modeled after the 'counterpunch' style of boxing. More specifically the hot blooded anime boxing philosophy of "If you're punching me in the face, then you're not blocking the punch I'm throwing at YOUR face". It's why their Boss monsters are all about negating battle destruction and boosting themselves; they take the damage but don't go down and hit back harder on their turn. And all their counter traps literally have "Counter" in their name. So them skipping their own Battle Phase and waiting for the opponent to come to them is actually EXTREMELY thematic, it's just the impractical kind of theming that explains why so anime decks only work within the logic of an anime.

This was a really fun one. Its got similarities to Master Duel Arena and Master Saga mixed together, but rhe way the draft encorporates a sense of progress between each game makes it a pretty unique form of draft. Hope to see this continue!

I was convinced MBT had the stronger deck, with the highest synergies, and powerful cards, and that hardleg didn't have a focused/solid enough plan. Game 1, when I thought hardleg had his best shot, he lost. Games 2, and 3, when I thought MBT was at his strongest, he lost. This was super exciting to watch, like a whole adventure. Don't be discouraged by dumb comments. IMO the format is good as it is; there's a lot of replayability, and the adaptation of the players is what makes it interesting. This actually made me want to build a Six Sam deck, as well as Wind-Up, Infernity, and -lswarm ones. Thanks for the video!

RNG and Procedural Generation? I haven't delved deep into my own text-based RPG game yet, but even if I add some kind of simple prodcedural generation quest or dungeons, I won't call it a roguelike, that's just a scam. I wonder though if I can get away with putting the Female Protagonist tag because all three biologies (male, female, both) only have one real gender on my world (traditionally attractive female).

Clearly you haven't really thought about this. All drafts were encompassed under rougelikes but not all rougelikes are drafts. One describes an act the other describes a genre. The extra steps just make it clearer that this is the genre because your run changes each time. If you earned permentant upgrades for your deck like inscryption then it's a rouge-lite.

When I was watching some of Hardleg’s pulls and choices I thought, “this Fire shit looks so bad, there’s no way it works, Hardleg’s going to lose because of it and I’m going to be annoyed.” But holy shit that third game was AMAZING and SO fun to watch. It made me realize that I need to work on being less cynical and serious when I’m watching stuff like this. Sometimes it’s more fun when people do something “suboptimal,” and maybe a little bit off the wall, just for that possibility of creating some really cool moments by stepping off the beaten path a little bit. Awesome, awesome video. What a fun time.
