I love the fact that Kaiba built a elevator to space for the sole purpose of having a facility with zero gravity entirely dedicated to solving an ancient puzzle with built-in AI that is so impressed by this feat that it compliments Kaiba, only for him to dismiss the AI's flattery. Atem came back for Yugi not Kaiba. Atem even in the afterlife is very protective and loves Yugi, that was point of him coming back.

@@delirous8 That maybe true, but you need to remember who was hunting Atem down in the first place, and passed on his will and faith to Yugi, for Atem to have open window to return to activate that cheat code. Remember, this is a Kaiba Centric story to find a way to let go, while the two sides that intermingle with the Prana and how Yugi and the gang was preparing for graduation. The set up for Kaiba is from the two part TRANSCEND GAME prologue

Honestly wished the Pharoah never showed up and it was just his visage and mannerisms got adopted by Yugi. It's great to see the pair again after all this time but I liked the finality of his farewell and the prospects of Yugi growing to be a great man in his own trails. Having the Pharaoh come on to bail him out at the end just kinda makes it feel Yugi will never truly stand on his own .

It's funny since this takes place sometime between 1998-2000 but you see smartphones and similar tech from the later 2010s. But it is Kaiba after all 😅😅

the actual year is 1999 when they graduated. I kinda worked it out that due a estimated timeline and guess work. In the manga, Atem got his memories in August 1998, left the next month of the same year, and 6 months later, came back, probably either a day or two before graduation in March 1999. Which is usually the time for Japanese High School students graduates based on what actually happens IRL. Duel Monsters though, I don't know if it's based in the same time frame (90s) or in the 2000s. I guess with that, since Kaiba saw the result, there was no need to hunt Atem down so the gang was able to graduate without problems or threats.

I feel the movie kind of undermines that Yugi was supposed to surpass Atem in the series, but I still enjoyed it. Though, if they decide to make another series out of this, the idea of Yugi being Prana was pretty interesting. Maybe their powers return for a while, and Yugi actually gets to see the Egyptian afterlife once.

The thing is he did surpass Atem, he beat Kaiba without help but he is still physically weak. He was meant to surpass atem in doing what’s right and more skilled and while he is more skilled, dude physically is weak, he might have been able to win but he lost because he wasn’t physically strong enough to deal with the real damage.

Kaiba still had 100 life points and a face-down card, and it's not like the characters in the franchise haven't had a habit of pulling miracles out of thin air. I'll concede to Yugi being physically weak, but did Atem really need to enter his body again? Wasn't the point of the finale for them to be able to stand as individual?
