Basically to sum up this meta: - Eldlich and Adamancipator are dominant (Obviously and everyone knows this) - Other good decks are considered "meta" (Dinos, salamangreat, invoked builds, mermails) not only cause of how good they are, but also the factor of "How will does my deck do against the top 2 decks? What cards do I have that can stand up to them and what staples fit well with my deck?" Mermails are so underrated and annoying due to how good and consistent the handloop combo is. Makes it so much harder to stop them with handtraps, and since handtraps are less common due to the meta, they can just use the handloop combo to get rid of starters and extenders and save their negates for the backup options. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a top 5 deck down the line, but I feel it has a bad eldlich matchup since the handloop combo helps them more than you! Madolche is underrated too.

not that many people play shaddoll invoked. representation, as well as the skill of the player, affect the success of a deck. i mean, if the players that would bring the best out of a certain deck are out there playing a different deck, the deck won’t get as far as it actually could.

I think the game is in such a situation where very few decks can be enough versatile and consistent to win competitive duels. Like cimoo mentioned it, it's not healthy at all for the game and Konami has to revise their management methods. When you see for example that cards like Pantheism are still limited, I wonder sometimes if the banlist isn't here mostly for marketing purposes... Bringing more and more new meta decks, replacing the previous ones rather than game balancing.

Chaos Infernoid to be honest I started playing in 2002 in the states, casually - and I loved it! Started getting competitive in ‘03 and ‘04, took a break from 2012 to 2017. Played casually, swapped back to competitive from 2018 - 2020, but that love I had for this game just sort of stagnated, I was always that guy who played unique decks, fun decks that could pack a punch when played correctly, they’d sometimes even be competitive! But I feel there are better things to spend money on, it’s starting to feel unnecessarily tedious and outrageously expensive. I love this game, I really do, but the companies behind it? That’s a different story, I know they need to make money. After all they need money to keep this game alive, but come on, one more secret rare in a box, a higher chance of cards players actually need in a booster box - won’t hurt them that much. And I know “buy the singles”, the thing is I do! But the thing is the price of some staples are just too high, I appreciate what they did with the handtraps, but I don’t feel that it was enough, especially if you find ways to powercreep and make them irrelevant and ineffective / pointless with new cards’ text. Maybe one day, in the main format - there will be a flash of what made Yu-Gi-Oh! Special in the past. In short don’t take 30 minutes to setup a board that won’t let others play at all, only to time them out when they have a chance to win the duel. As always, good luck - and have fun! Shaddoll Invoked was incredibly underwhelming tbh. All the combos are three card combos unless Aleister goes off or you go second with Shaddoll Fusion, also if you dont get to a spell you're fucked. Not to mention, while there are a few decks that cant out Winda, its too easy out at the same time. Honestly think Mekk Invoked is better since it has loads of tools to out Winda and any light extender + Aleister is otk.

On one hand, I'm happy to see that despite Adamancipator and Eldlich's dominance of the online meta that Dino and Water can still compete with them and prevail, but on the other hand I'm less than pleased to find that Mekk Knights have finally shaped up to being good meta too and Shadolls got bumped off the docket entirely. Regardless, this meta has shaped up to being quite diverse and powerful with ETCO out and prancing about, and I can't wait to see what else broken or ROBUST deck yugists managed to cobble together like mad lads they are.

I've been testing orcust. Going first. I side the rainbow neos pack. Can brick sometimes. Plays through hand traps easy. Wonderful late game. many of the meta decks have not giving me a problem. Girsu, the Orcust Mekk-Knight really help going first because it makes a token. Its a one card morning star then discard a Mekk Knight to search a world legacy spell or trap then there is a column set up

It's just cool to see a deck have such longevity and still get support, most likely foreshadowing that the deck will continue to be around for a while. All I'm saying is there's more Salamangreat support even after all this time. Didn't say it'd be used in meta decks.

Keep in mind, I am a competent duelist; I won't be winning any tournaments until my locals opens up again, but I wsnt to give my two cents before watching Alex do his thing: 5. Salamangreat: I'm not at all surprised this deck is still this good, because if you can't kill salad, they will come back next turn with their insane recursion. 4. Invoked Mekk-Knight/Shaddoll: These are two very different decks, so call it a tie. The invoked engine is amazing in any deck that does not require a normal summon. 3. Dinosaur: post-ETCO, this one is a no brainer; the ability to tear through even the scariest boards, and turn one VFD setups, this deck is one scary toolbox. 2. Adamancipator: the top two spots are so close, yet they are so diiferent. The rocks build such incredible board thst even double dark ruler + evenly isn't enough to win (check farfa for the receipt). Thry lose to the top deck simply because their threats are so limited and linear, ie. block dragon is everything. 1. Eldlich: I have to admit, this deck caught me off guard. I did not expect a control deck built around a single main deck monster and situational trap monsters to be as sticky and powerful as it is. I was thuroughly wrong. Eldlich boards, as a result of their crazy resource looping capabilities, are as potent turn 6 as turn 1, which makes it the top deck of the may 2020 meta.

Oh, and my honorable mentions are: Scrap Orcust: Girsu is a nice boost, and urgent schedule is a win button going 2nd. Madolche: two spots in top 8 of a major tournament is nothing to sneeze at. ETCO gives this deck so much and brings it into meta contention.

I know it has not been seeing the kind of representation that we would expect in this meta, but cards like Construct and Winda, the strength of Shaddoll fusion, the ability to dip into the invoked fusion pool, with options like Mecaba, Purgatrio and Caliga make it a formiddable option.

Depends considering zombie world destroyed the build you hyped up in one game and doom king even cleaned up nicely and with anti magic arrow too and super poly with zombie world you can get rid of to at least two negates so there are ways around. Sure its op but there are ways to deal with this deck. Sure it'll be the one to challenge but dont foget the nemeses cards are just as insane being able to shuffle destiny hero mally multiple times in one turn is insane on its own and the two archnemeses monsters can mass field pop while having destruction protection that might be hard to deal with. So we'll have to see what tech options other decks throw in cyber dragons actually got suport to and that is union driver a 2100 attk light machine that makes abc buster dragon and infinity easy with just union hanger. So we will see.

How to make Mekk-Knight-Invoked better going first? Add Shaddolls for Winda an Construct. I still don't get why nobody plays this as Winda is still very oppresive... In addition, Shaddoll Fusion is really strong and Rainbow Neos allows the closure of games.

Wouldn't really change the list but not mentioning the first turn plays girsu can give Mekk-knight is a bit of a dis service to the deck. I haven't seen many tournament lists to see what players are actually using it for but things like first turn field spell to remove the opponents hand/extra deck or setting up a one sided skill drain in deus x krawler are rather powerful in their own right but the fact they also give you the columns for other Mekk-knight plays... It's a bit of a game changer

With Konami pushing super powerful but extremely limited cards it's making the game too expensive to play. This is making me long for the days of Gouki and Pendulum Magicians, because while they could be unfair to play against they were also fairly cheap to buy, so if you really couldn't beat them, you could at least join them.

#1 is Adamancipator. Everybody is main decking Dark Ruler because of Adamancipator. Eldlich is adapting to Adamancipator so it can keep up by adding additional negates on top of their traps. You seriously don't realize that everything that is happening in the format is just so it can keep up with Adamancipators and ofc defend against it? #1 is NOT Eldlich for this reason. The format is evolving all because of Adamancipators. Thats what it means to be the best deck. Everybody is hunting you trying to be on your level and as a result put pressure on other decks to become better or find counters to your deck. Just like Spyrals previous format. You called maining Dark Ruler in a format unhealthy. Well thats also because of Adamancipators. Eldlich is a beast for sure, but Adamancipator is on a different power level with barely any weaknesses regardless of the build they take. Ive never disagreed on any Top Meta videos of Cimoo, but this one time I just have to disagree.

I personally like the pure Mekk-Knight variant more atm than MK-Invoked, because of Mekk-Knight Orcust Girsu. If you are force to go first with MK-Invoked you usually end on Mechaba pass. Girsu + any other Mekk-Knight (except Avram) alone ends on 3 material Apollousa + wl secret,
