Make sure to remember it - if you forget, I don’t mind teaching it to you again. > Your thoughts on Genshin I first found out about Genshin through a commercial, I think... But I didn’t think it would be playable on a phone - recently it’s come out for PS5, too - but the graphics were so beautiful, and I thought about playing it myself so I could play in this beautiful place. And the voice actors playing Lumine and Aether, the protagonists, are voice actors I know and look up to, so I wanted to play because of that too. So before I got the offer to play Yanfei, I was already playing Genshin. But it’s really so amazing! There’s always something to do, and I can keep playing for hours. > Your thoughts on Yanfei When I first received the papers [with character details and information] - that has a lot of information all of you know, and don’t know, but - I thought that you can’t judge this character based on just her appearance. And when I read the script, I thought that her adeptus side really shines through. But she honors her promise with her father to live freely, so despite her being half-adeptus she mingles with humans and lives her life, which is probably not so common among adepti. I’m sure she knows about that, but she doesn’t mind and naturally fits in Liyue. And when she acts more young, like when she talks to Madame Ping, or when she talks about her favorite food, or when she talks about her father - even then she upholds the rules, because she’s just that type of person. I wanted to make sure that that was expressed in my acting. When she talks about the law, there’s this persuasiveness in it, and I hope that makes you think “Oh, I don’t want this girl to be my enemy. I cannot make this girl my enemy” - I tried to incorporate that into my acting as well. > How are you similar to Yanfei? Sometimes I just can’t stop talking, it’s a little embarrassing, though... But, if there’s something Yanfei believes in, if she thinks logically and thinks it’s true, she’ll be all “This is the correct answer” “What you say isn’t true” and start mercilessly arguing - we have that in common, too. I want to become a more easygoing person... Yanfei already is pretty easygoing, though! She just doesn’t realize it, but she just corners the people she’s talking to with the law - I think it adds to her charm, but it could also be one of her shortcomings. I personally want to improve that part of myself. > Characters that you don’t voice that you’re interested in I love a lot of them, but the one I play as a lot, the one I wouldn’t be able to stay alive without is big brother Tarutaru, Tartaglia, voiced by Kimura-san... Playing a bow character makes me feel more secure. I really like to shoot weak points, so I’m always shooting enemies’ heads, or the Pyro Regisvine’s core. It’s really fun. So I like Tartaglia’s playstyle, but when I leave him alone for a bit, he says “If we were where I’m from, we would be dead right now!” - I really love how he tells you to hurry up in this merciless way. It’s nice, isn’t it? I also love how he has no highlights in his eyes. I really love it! And because of Yanfei, I’m also really interested in Ganyu. Ganyu works really hard for Liyue and falls asleep sometimes - it’s cute, isn’t it? - even so, she;s lived longer than Yanfei, so she’s also really lonely. I wonder how long she was alive as a half-adeptus before Yanfei was born. I wonder how the two interact, and I would really like to pull her one day! Recently I’ve been clearing a lot of missions with Xingqiu. I just can’t get enough of him! What can’t I get enough of? First, he likes to read, and I love that, and that cute face and luxurious clothes... I can’t get enough of it. When I play as him, I always think that he’s such a great mix of cool and cute! I also really love Razor! Oh, there’s so many characters I like, it’s kind of scary. I love all of the 4 star boys. Razor’s been with me for quite a while, so whenever I need a claymore user, I use Razor. I have Skyward Pride on him too. He’s so strong and always swinging his claymore around. Whenever he gets hurt and says “I taste blood”, I feel like “I’m sorry, I’ll become stronger, I’ll become better at playing”... I like that he makes me feel that way, too! But I love Xingqiu too. I can’t choose one! > If you were to travel in the world of Genshin, what would you do? Let’s see... If I was in the world of Genshin, I would like to get a pot from Madame Ping and create my house! In this peaceful world, I can surround - wait no, not surround, but just hang out forever with my favorite characters in this world I’ve created. I think it’d be fun, but I guess I can’t do that. I have to go solve those problems, don’t I. I have to go save Aether, don’t I. I’ll do my best! > One last word for all the travelers out there! I’ve joined the world of Genshin as Yanfei, but I also enjoy it as a player. My own personal breakthrough while playing was when I was just playing by myself and I got a world join request from another traveler I didn’t know, and I said “Ok!” and let them in. And they’re so much stronger than me, and they say “Where do you want to go?” “What quest do you want to do?” “Ok! I’ll take you there! I’ve already cleared that.” “What next?” and they take such good care of me. And even if it’s like 1 or 2 AM, they’re so nice and keep saying “Where do you want to go?” “Ok!” “I’ll keep helping out until you have to sleep.” And so even when I’m playing by myself, I don’t feel alone. People including myself were quick to judge her voice just from the demo. But after playing Serenitea pot quest, it quickly clicked. Watching EN dub after just made it clear JP captured Yanfei's personality while EN just fits her quirky outward appearance.
