袁老师好,就着新王加冕的话题提问:我最近发现了一个可能算比较冷门的词汇:纹章官(Herald),在网络中大致了解了一下来龙去脉,发现这是一个已有七百多年历史的古老职业,在英伦三岛甚至存续至今,此次英王加冕典礼纹章院(College of Arms)有25位纹章官(包含嘉德首席纹章官)列席:男女老少,不亦乐乎。想问袁sir的是,为何英国得以保留这项传统而欧陆的纹章官职业则没落了呢?按说欧陆贵族家族纹章更多更繁杂,这个职业会大有所为才是呀🤔袁sir喜欢纹章勋章,想必对这个问题会有些兴趣,提前感谢🙏如果袁sir以前没聊过这个话题,觉得有讲头,不妨单开一期,讲讲维基百度查不到的😄

I think heraldry is traditionally associated with aristocracy. Across the continent, aristocracy and royalty had become less important over time much more quickly than the United Kingdom, mainly due to war and revolution. I guess this is why the UK kept these tradition.
