最後一幕，女的病入膏肓，竟然可以復蘇，已是奇跡。至其貧病交逼，走頭無路，其夫又未歸來，而竟可獨佔醫院私人病房，且有醫護在側，更是奇跡中之奇跡。舊日粵語片雖有情味，但布 細節，終嫌粗糙，考慮不周也。

@@canman5060 I don't think it was forbidden to talk about (e.g. Japan) in Asia or that it was simple in the west. In the uSA, birth control pill was illegal in many states until 1965. In UK, NHS did not pay for it (see the TV series Call the Midwife e.g.). The problem was the poorer the family, the less likely they would have access to birth control or understanding of it. Birth control was a no no for Catholics of course. Having children was of course a longstanding tradition for Chinese. Anyway, criticizing people in HK in 1962 and even before (e.g. 兒女債 1955) shows ignorance of the history of birth control and child bearing in HK.

It is difficult to have too much sympathy for characters who were beyond stupid. The father's will said Tze must divorce and marry someone else. All he had to do was divorce Nam Hong, then paid someone for a faked marriage and then paid more to divorce. Then he could remarry Nam Hong having already inherited all the money, For that matter, the entire gambling happening at the birthday party was worse than absurd.
