Hi everyone,
this is the third video in the mini series on how to make a Yubinuki ( Japanese thimble ring). In this video we cover making the actual thimble itself ready for stitching.
It's really straight forward and easy to do, especially if you are using the Gina B Silkworks Yubinuki kit ( see below) as everything is provided for you.
Enjoy the video. If you have any questions please just leave me a comment and I’ll be happy to help if I can.
Thanks so much for watching.
Hugs C xx.

SUGGESTED ALTERNATIVE THREADS (all available from Gina B Silkworks)
Rajmahal art silk ~ Worked as a single strand.
Soie de Paris and Soie d'Alger ~ Both of these are divisible just like DMC thread.
Soie Gobelins ~ This is a fine thread and finer threads do mean that the patterns need to be adjusted. Gina recommends to use 3 strands for one of the DMC threads.
However if you were to only use one strand at a time, you would need to adjust the pattern by working every instruction 3 times (so 2 rounds would become 6).

That is actually the easy part... just one basic stitch throughout. Honest Janette, if I can make these anyone can. Hugs C xx

Hi Susan, thanks....lol. Yep, these thimbles really are easy. Even the sewing is just one stitch throughout. I guess the more complex the design/pattern is the harder they become to do... I'm yet to tackle one yet. Certainly the patterns in the kit are easy enough to do. Hugs C xx

You chose the wrong profession my friend, you really should have been a teacher ... you've made this look so easy, even a dummy like me is starting to believe that I could actually do it! Jury is still out until I've seen the 'pretty' bit though - bring on the next video.

Honest, these are not hard. One basic stitch throughout too. BUT I'm guessing ( & my Japanese book will tell) that the more complex the pattern the more concentration I'll need ! Certainly the three patterns covered in the kit are straight forward enough to do. Hugs C xx

Wonderfully clear tutorial, Carol - I'm learning a lot. May I recommend tweezers to pull the fabric over the ring? Makes my life a lot easier!
