YuGiOh Dark Magician Control Deck Profile (Post Burst of Destiny) 12/2021

I fully understand that this is a casual/control build. It’s a decent build. Having said that, if you’re genuinely having questions about competitive builds; competitive Dark Magician decks play DM at 2 because it reduces bricks. Same with Dark Magical Circle. You DO NOT want to open with those cards. 3 isn’t required anymore. You want DM from deck to graveyard ASAP. Never in hand. We also don’t play Circle at 3 because Dragoon is now the main focus. You want more cards that focus on getting him on the field because he’s more of a threat than setting up Circle + Eternal Soul + DM. It requires A LOT of setup just to banish 1 card. You honestly can play both Circle and Eternal Soul at 1 because they’re easily searchable. If they’re destroyed, you can get them back from the GY with Soul Servant! If you can’t afford Souls, I’d advise against using Fusion Deployment because it locks you from your extra deck. That means no Verte Anaconda. I’d use Elemental Hero Prisma and/or A BUNCH of monsters to special summon; like Tenyi Spirit Vishuda and Jester Confit. Makes it easier to get to Verte. Use 3 Red-Eyes Fusion. You want to open with it. Even if you have leftovers, they’re fuel for Dragoon.

doesnt make sense if your gunna use apprentice effect to mill DM just to get another in the hand, usually super poly is better when your using materials from opponents field i.e dark phoenix enforcer for starving venom

Hi dm player here I cut down dm to 2 now that we have illusion of chaos that can search magician soul (well atleast here in the ocg). Also opening dm in the hand is not as greatful as before.

He purposely doesn't play the deck to be very competitive. He's a skillful player and knows he could do it if he wanted to but he chose it to build it this way. More importantly, he made the deck the way he enjoys it the most. Not every deck has to be completely optimized and be the best version of it.

@@DuelistWave For most people that's true. A stronger deck is typically more fun since winning is fun. But in this case, he would rather play a control variant because he just enjoys it. But that's what makes deck-building so unique. Maybe somebody might see this and would have never thought of building a trap control version of DM and now became inspired to build this version. We all have our preferences. He did say that this was a non-competitive version in the video. At the end of the day, it's all about what floats your boat.
