@@xeriath2326 I'm honestly still salty that we never got to see HOW Joey got Gilford. Did he get it from a random card pack? Was it a gift from Yugi's Grandpa just before Battle City? It's like it just showed up in his deck. I honestly think Joey was the most disrespected out of all the main duelists in Battle City.

@@xeriath2326 Eh, that's still not a good reason though. Sure, Yugi up & had Valkyrian the Magnet Warrior, and the magnet monsters, suddenly in his deck for Battle City. But that's somewhat believable because his grandfather owns a game shop that sells DM cards, so it's easy to assume that's how Yugi got those. Same with Kaiba, he suddenly has the X-Y-Z cannon monsters, but being the CEO of a company that has intricate ties to the card game & the company that created it, it's no stretch to assume that's how Kaiba obtained those cards. Literally none of those things apply to Joey. At best, we could MAYBE assume that he received Gilford from Yugi's grandfather after hearing how he lost his Red Eyes Dragon to a rare card hunter. But even that wouldn't be a good explanation because, it would raise more questions than answers, namely if he had Gilford prior to Battle City, then why not use that as his rare card to enter Battle City, instead of using Time Wizard like he did in the series? And why did we not see Gilford in any of his duels, particularly the one against Mako, prior to the one w/ Marik? And why didn't Marik take Gilford from his deck when he brainwashed Joey and replaced a number of his cards with rare cards in order to duel Yugi? You see what I'm saying?
