I just picked up a Yugoslavian M57 Tokarev and we will be going to the range as soon as I can find some 7.62×25 ammo. Thanks for the video.

IIRC Unlike a lot of M57 imports with safeties, the 1911 style safeties on the M57’s were actually added by Zastava

The thumb safety is one of the best it also blocks the hammer from striking the firing pin if you pull the trigger with the safety on.

Just a thought... since the design intent was to use the half-cock as the safety mechanism, why not simply remove the import-required slide safety, leaving a hole in the frame; then get a nice set of M57 wood grips from Marschal that will cover the empty slide safety hole. Once that import-required safety is gone, if you want to stick with original Zastava/Yugo plastic grips with the star, you can find them on eBay and several other places for not too much money. I've had a Zastava M57 for several years... not in the best shape finish-wise, so I replaced the original grips with rubber grips and left the slide safety intact. I just got a nice M57 in excellent condition that has the "Glock-style" trigger blade safety; I'm replacing that trigger with an OE M57 trigger and will use the half-cock as the safety. Ordered a set of Marschal wood grips for that one too... but I know those will take a few months to arrive.

I have one just like it that’s 1979 and it has a trigger safety instead of the select on the side I love it idk why the Russians didnt keep the caliber and went to the ok 9x18

For the mag safety, just take the left grip panel off and use a small, flathead screwdriver and break off the magazine safety

CZ52 is missing lol My Warsaw pistol collection is missing the Tokarev. USSR Nagant revolver USSR Makarov CZ 52 CZ83 (opted for 380 over 9mak CZ82) So need either TT33 or M57 so long as it has trigger safety won’t pay more $150 for a frame safety hence why it’s missing from my collection

I think you mean magazine safety, not grip safety. I hate them too by the way.
