I was 21 when I met him in México City. He was a legend and I gave him a lift in my car to get to his hotel (long story). I couldnt believe it was real hahaha. Thank you, Mr. Harrell ❤

I've been rough and mean to her in the past. For some time I've discovered her greatness and I regret having spoken ill of her, having offended and insulted her. Now all I do is listen to her wonderful and heavenly music, and from day to day I appreciate her more and more. I love you, Yuja!

Hey I remember how you'd dissed her relentlessly, on every KZbin she appeared in. How you mocked her for dressing like a sex worker, claiming her admirers knew nothing about music and, with poor interpretative skills, were simply hypnotised by her edgy haute couture. Without reasoned analysis you'd just trash her interpretations of EVERYTHING she played. And remember your puerile cherry picking and repeated cut-n-pasting of third rate reviews. Wow, I remember. You HATED her, and everything you thought she stood for. Meanwhile others just marvelled at her revelatory renditions of Prokofiev, Scriabin, Rachmaninoff etc. etc. And now you love her. Not her monster technique or artistry, nor her tireless commitment and poetic insights. No. You love her, a woman you've not met "I love you, Yuja!" (....that was a cheap shot. But oh!... how many you used to fire). But now it seems we agree; the world would be worse off without Yuja Wang. That's what inspired my response, not her, but you. Kudos to you for recognising your past miss deeds and more kudos for your public recantation. Not sure whether it took guts but I suspect It did to some degree. And, for me, changing your mind from a strongly held conviction is something to be admired. So thanks. Let's all enjoy the rest of her career.

She is incredibly pretty. Well recognized for her pianism but her looks and sexiness play an important part. Take for example the opposite : a virtuoso whose physical appearance takes away, then there is no star factor and sensation. It's always been this way, it's how things are.

Yeah, but she is a phenomenal pianist ...even without the glitz. Listen without the video.

What did he mean about doing what feel great on stage but doesnt serve music 🤔 mocking her revealing concert dress ?? 😏
@frankgrimeson Жыл бұрын
No. This was in the context of having your own *musical* personality on stage. He was referring to being too expressive in your own way, as opposed to being faithful to the composer's intentions. He follows that up by explaining to her that, musically, the two of them pale in comparison to the vision of the composers they interpret, akin to how a color-blind person wouldn't possibly be able to fully appreciate the intentions of an artist. I don't necessarily agree with him, or support this kind of lecturing of a fellow professional musician whom he doesn't really know very well, but wanted to make it clear that he's not attacking her image or attire.
@thuyviola Жыл бұрын
@@frankgrimeson thank you for clearing that up 👍👍
@ericastier1646 Жыл бұрын
@@frankgrimeson I am very impressed by the integrity of your comment. This is clearly what he meant. But your second paragraph shows perfect judgement. I disagree with him as well as a musician, seeing composers as demi-gods and ourselves as sensory handicapped in art by comparison is a negative way. I think Rachmnaninoff notes on the subject of the musical approach are the best. I also did not like his way of imposing his dialog to her and touching her.
