Only recently born, he’s incredibly powerful, dangerous, and cunning; but he is still emotionally a child nonetheless, one who likes to trample on insects. He was born purely out of the hatred of humans and thus was born TO hate humans, he knows nothing else. When things go his way he has a blast and loves to troll, when they don’t he’s just a pathetically scared coward. That being said, seeing a teenager bully a miserable infant was incredibly satisfying.

However, Mahito thought the ability worked and turned around to try to predict the switch. Due to this, Yuji was able to land a hit on the unguarded Mahito.

No he's not. It was a cool representation of Mahito being a prey and Yuji being a hunter. Also Zenin clan has a technique called "10 shadows" (the one that megumi uses). The 10 shadows technique uses shadows to generate shikigamis (Nue, Demon dogs, Orochi, Rabbits, Frogs, Mahoraga or Makora, Max Elephant and 3 other that we don't know yet). So basically there's no specific technique for wolves.
