So happy for you that you left gulf. I worked in different middle eastern countries especially in kuwait (7 yrs) as a nurse. Honestly I never received any respect towards my profession especially from arab citizens maybe because of their culture and upbringing. They used to verbally abuse nursing staffs alot . However from past 3 yrs working with NHS changed my perspective towards nursing. Never knew nursing was so much value in UK infact i am spellbound. I recommend every nurses who working in middle eastern countries try to get off from their and you'll love your profession even more if you can reach in an English speaking countries. Well done brother, I was very suffered in saudi arabia even under ministry of health. I had experienced around 18 hours of overtime duty without benefits, because of staff shortage. I remember that I didn't eat and even drink water as because of more irritating patients with alone. I can't remember such horrible days in my life. Due to the job l become sick and now I am on treatment for back ache.

I worked in both abudhabi health authority and in NHS UK.Most of the things he presented are correct .I have experienced good deal of rascism and Also the tax and National Insurance taken off before salary is huge example around 600-800 pound per month.But the job flexibility is excellent especially in line with child care and also career development possibility is immense.I was fortunate to get almost same salary and other benefits like housing and children education and yearly ticket in Abudhabi also.But owning property is a great edge that UK has.By the way paid breaks nearly non existed in two of the NHS trust I worked for..

I worked in Ireland and UK as IT pro, then moved to US. No one can't compare UK or Ireland to US. UK is Britishs land , Ireland is Irish land, so for them, it is very difficult to work under an Indian, buy in US, all are migrated, so no difference. I never worked in gulf, so don't know culture there

Since you worked mostly along with white in UK & Ireland, you are saying like this. The first thing you have to understand that among those who come to these countries other than nurses and software profession get ended up in blue collar jobs. UK & Ireland need indians and Asians in those jobs. So there is no competition towards you. But you are in white collar job and competing with the White. Normally there is no wonder as they get jealous about you and behave like you are outsider. It is same like the thing that we accept Bengali's in Kerala in construction labour field, agricultural labour field, office boy, hotel waiter etc. But we can't accept them as an officer level job. We get irritated if they take over our white collar jobs in kerala.
