A more basic explanation would be: The game will randomly generate 8 winds from holes 1-8, then reset the wind selection from holes 9-16, before doing so again for holes 17 and 18. All three are random in what winds you get, but as the run progresses you can gradually narrow down what wind speed/direction you get for each bunch of holes before it resets over 4th place runner Vncz created a handy tool called windtracker that, well, lets you track the wind, and it's helpful in knowing what your selections are for the upcoming holes (e.g. being able to know you'll get either 2 , 8, or 14 south on hole 8)
