Yuki is the healer of the Zweilt guardians. In a way he is one of them but also different, since his powers are to heal pain (mental and physical) while theirs is to fight. The zweilts reincarnate over and over again, keeping their memories as to fight duras and protect the human world from them. They love Yuki so much because he is the one to understand, share and heal their pain. I suppose also he is the one who has the power to completely end the battle between duars and humans somehow, so he is also their hope. The one who wants to kill Yuki is Reiga (and by extension the duras) because without him zweilts will have no one to heal their wounds in the battle and that way the duras will win easily and overtake the human world. What happened in the anime though is that yuki reincarnated this time as a boy (he always was a girl in his past lives) and without his memories or control of his powers. It could be that he wanted that to get close to Reiga since childhood and persuade him not to use his powers to destroy the world of humans. I hope that clarified a bit :)
