Yum Yum Salad - Jello Fruit Salad - Tastes Like Summer - Easy Cool Dessert - The Hillbilly Kitchen
This no-bake, no cook, no heat of any kind required, no fail dessert is a cool, creamy, fruity, delicious, creation that is perfect for summer. Just dump, stir, chill and enjoy. Fruit salad is welcome at any occasion and no potluck is complete without it. Have fun with this recipe all simmer and get creative. Try different flavors and add some extra ingredients. Yummy!

I love this salad even my mom's version which she will use a container of cottage cheese instead of the marshmallows. This is a staple at all family dinners and holidays and she omits the nuts. It's a recipe she got years ago before I was born. She would fix it for my uncle before he passed away. He loved it until he found out cottage cheese was in it...he hated cottage cheese

My late mother used to make what she called an ambrosia salad. I’ve not made it in a while, though. She had used 1 8 ounce block of cream cheese, mixed-fruit cocktail, mini marshmallows, & cool-whip. Now, I’ve seen a recipe for ambrosia using vanilla pudding, fresh fruit & whipped topping. So different variations of fruit salad. Watching your video brought back many happy, good memories of fruit salad & how much my now grown adult children had loved it when my mom had made it, & when I made it. Thank you for your videos, & the perfect reminder of why I should make it again.

My southern Mom and Grandma made a fruit salad for every gathering. I carried on, but my kids and Grandkids just didn't care for them. I think they were too much like desert to enjoy them with a meal. But my daughter did start liking the pistachio fruit salad thanks to my Mom.😊❤

That’s pistachio pudding mix, yes, you do pudding mixes and, mix it into the cool whip or you can use jello and, fold it in, also these are known as whips! So, if you look on KZbin under whips, you can find a whole slew of these type recipes.

We love yum yum salad! Years ago, a popular country restaurant here in our area used to serve it and vegetable trays and dip, and breaded mushrooms with fresh bread and butter (to every table!) as appetizers. The yum yum salad was everyone's favorite! ❤

My mama found a very similar recipe in a magazine, some time during the late 60's/early 70's. It was then, and continues to be, a part of every holiday gathering. Main difference is the addition of cottage cheese, which gives it the qualification of "salad"! i mix the topping and cottage cheese together, then add the gelatin, followed by fruit. i call it "Pine-Cot Cool Salad". (My grands would no doubt prefer your recipe, without the cottage cheese.) i love this is the hot summer - it is so refreshing! Always enjoy watching your videos...♥

I love YUM YUM SALAD. When we moved to the US as refugees we were put in the hood. I was tested and placed in 2 higher grades & a group called Pace. Bc of this, I had to go to a white school half the week. Pace had a weekly ByOB and my friend Tracy brought this. It was my first time having jello, whip cream, marshmallows & thought it was a rich persons dessert lol. It was one of my most coveted childhood memories that helped erased the horrors we went thru! My grandmother had this salad that was similar. It had cottage cheese, no marshmallows We always say she invented it, even though that is not so. These salads are so tasty. I am thankful that you show us how to create different foods. You are my go to. I like that they are usually adaptable, as it is just me. I tell everyone that I am not a good cook, but no one has died from it yet. You, and other wonderful cooks are helping to improve.

Living in Sweden for many yrs. now, I soooo miss a lot of food items from the US, that can't be found over here. Cool Whip being one of those. Not that I can't make whatever, I'll use whipped cream instead but, like you said, it doesn't hold it's form very long an needs to be eaten within a couple of hours at the most. My version of this YumYum sallad is made from sliced Fresh Strawberries and Raspberries with Strawberry or Raspberry Jello. 🤤 Thankfully, we've been able to find Jello for about 15 yrs. now.

Boy, have you come to the right place! I’m 66 years old and Becky taught me how to cook! I bring my phone or iPad to the kitchen & cook right along with her. I have learned everything from how to make eggs up to the best pot roast I have ever eaten! You can learn all kinds of baked good, candies, and many casseroles. I would start with one of those. My family are very happy. Have faith, you can do this!

A lady named Dawn showed me this. It is absolutely a dream. Very refreshing. We used mandarins. Whip cream seperates, but it could be added to the rest of the mixed ingredients when serving or on top. The whip topping is a differebt taste too. Its good. 😊 To see this.

I make one similar, mine has the baby marshmallows and I use the a different flavor jello. I like everything but the kitchen sink in mine lol. Love that you quote Scripture at the end of the video.
