Thank you for sharing this hawker centre. I like Hup Hup Mee Siam, one of the best. The hawker is very friendly. The mince pork and century egg porridge is yummy too. So is the 333 fried carrot cake. Bon Appetit 😋!

Please tell me Piggypuggy hasn't exploded yet from all the food he ate ;-) Quality is much more important than quantity.

That’s probably the reason why I had to muster up courage to be back. Coz I tend to over eat every week. Wish more stalls would have a sampler.. 😄

I am from Australia and have avoided century egg and durian because of the reputation. Going to Singapore in around a year for a cruise. So Piggy, would you suggest I try them both?
@Piggypuggy2 ай бұрын
Both are acquired tastes.. most who love it had them as kids. I’d suggest century egg porridge. It’s a bowl of meatball congee with a cut up century egg or bits of it in it. Together with the savoury congee.. it might be the easiest way to accept it. As for durian.. I think ones gotta jump ten times against the wall and force yourself to immerse in that smell and taste.. I’d say you need a few tries to get past it. And there are many varieties too.. go for an easy sweet one on your first try. Those expensive “mountain cat king” are supposed to be the best.. but I wouldn’t recommend it as a first timer because it’s got the most intense fermented sourish taste to it.. it’s for durian lovers. Try RED PRAWN bright yellow ones that are mostly just sweet. Be brave. Your really have to slowly accept it and the appreciation will come after a few tries of it.. but if you reject it as repulsive upfront or in just 2-3 times with just a mouth full.. it aiant gonna work 🤭

Traditional Laksa & Mee Siam… Love it 🪭😊🎉 Happy Belated Lunar New Year to you ‼️and same question? I dunno how you can eat so much at time… lol 😅
@Piggypuggy6 ай бұрын
Like what a typical singaporean would say.. ‘eat until scared ahhh..’ 😂 it took me quite some effort to get back into the hawker centre.. was camping in the cold winters of Japan for a while.. and now back into the hot cauldron Singapore 🇸🇬

Haven't been there for a few years. My school was just opposite. Tried the mee siam a few times, didn't rock my boat. Also the lontong from the Muslim stall, just alright. There's 3 hawker centres in such a tiny estate although they open at different times.
@Piggypuggy6 ай бұрын
Yeah.. it appealed to some.. but I like my mee siam to be a little less dense.. maybe the Nonya style.. sour and sweet

Press cut lime against spoon to squeeze so lime seeds don’t fall down onto food. Seeds remain on spoon where you can discard conveniently.
@Piggypuggy6 ай бұрын
Yes. Usually some would press it and filter with a fork.. but somehow the seeds still fall over 😄

I saw a lot of people sitting on their own at a table which could host four people. Is it considered rude to ask someone (who is sitting on his/her own at a table of four) to join them? And is it considered rude to try to start a casual conversation?
@Piggypuggy6 ай бұрын
It’s perfectly normal.. but it’d be odd if there’re lots of other empty tables and one comes along asking to share a table 😄 As for conversations.. it all depends.. some are friendly. Some without expression would almost certainly mean they wanna be left alone 😅 but generally singaporeans are happy to assist if you start off with a casual question to get them goin.. and pick up the cue from there. Good luck 😄

@jlee81816 ай бұрын
How much do you think they can make at $2.50.? Today rising cost hit everyone equally. Some feel it more some feel it less. But one should not expect these hardworking hawkers to sacrifice their needs , wants and aspirations to cater to consumers so the consumers can have more to spend for their wants and needs.

9:20 avoid the use of negative words in video to avoid business brand damage and max the profits from your channel. Probably shouldn’t mention congee “farting”.
