Yeah, I used to always think he just sucked at singing and used auto tune to cover it up. Which seems to be the case when he started out based on things he's said in interviews. But eventually I realized that most of the time he sings a note that sounds wrong, but adds a layer of autotune over it that is in-tune, essentially letting him harmonize with himself. The cool thing is though, most musicians that want to self-harmonize just add extra layers of the different notes, but the way he does it is like his human self harmonizing with his robotic self. Which definitely fits for his whole "angelic robot" vibe. Insane
