a very dear friend of mine shot himself last year after a battle with addiction. im a hooper and dancing to this song releases the festering tightness in my chest. he passed away a month after it had been a year since my other friends suicide. if you’re reading this i want you to stop what you’re doing, take a deep breath, and have a small moment to embrace yourself. embrace the cute little things about you that you believe go unnoticed. embrace your silliness. embrace your anger. embrace it all. because you deserve to feel loved. because you ARE love. please stay.

This song made me cry several times when I set the volume high and sang along. It's like I felt his pain in some ways, probably his most emotional song. The feeling when you realize you're on the verge of life and death. It's a song about self-destruction which you don't think you're capable of stopping. I can imagine many have felt that way. Very dark, emotional, yet so poetical and beautiful. I'm glad Lean survived, be he blessed.

This song saved me after I was stuck in a hospital in Japan in 2020. I came abroad for studying and was hit by car. Needed a surgery and spent about 3 months in a rehabilitation center, alone and away from family cos flights were not allowed due to pandemic. Japanese doctors were extremely kind and supportive, but sometimes I was really depressed cos I was not able to walk and had to learn how to do it at the age of 20 while staying completely alone in a far away foreign country. The horror of the traffic accident has just started getting to me at that time and such trauma often leaves a horrible mix of a will to live and gratitude for surviving wth a huge fear of life and panic. Since I started walking again, I went outside my Japanese apartment every night to sit at the swing and listened to this song 10 times in a row. Every night. It helped me to survive and release these emotions. And while I was swinging, I felt I could fly.

That's really crazy man. I never had anything like that happen, but I have lost friends. It's even worse in some ways, because you talked to someone every day and then you find out they died. "The song was recorded before Lean “detached from reality” and had a mental breakdown; destroying his condo. The police found him covered in blood from the debris-he was then checked into a mental hospital in Miami. Soon after, his friend Barron died after crashing his car while on Xanax.". Yung Lean during the tour in Miami especially had become heavily addicted to Xanax, weed, and cocaine mixing the three together with alcohol constantly. This video is about his recovery and mental illness and the loss of a friend because of his addiction.

To me, what stands out the most in this video is lean in many different outfits (as well as silver skin). I feel each outfit, like the dress, is his attempt to be beautiful, to himself, to others. I've recently tried to be someone I thought I wanted to be, wanted others to see me and want me a certain way. But it led to anxiety, frustration, and an inability to deliver the expectations I had promised to both myself and others. I had fear that I could not keep up the appearance I had created. I had a breakdown. Felt like a bad trip. Felt better after some sleep and talking to a good friend; after some healing. Now, onto the next outfit. Lean's digging a hole, sometimes with a caged canary because of fear of something dangerous and life threatening happening while trying to uncover something. And indeed, life is dangerous when I try to dig up some meaning, find something, to look for truth and happiness - chasing goals, making decisions that significantly affect the course of my life for better or for worse. The drugs I do, the adrenaline from driving too fast, the sexual encounters engaged, people I choose to love, other exposures I undergo to feel alive as I dig my hole, continue my search, the clothes I wear: the way I want to be. And undoubtedly I get hurt along the way. And that requires times of healing. But that doesn't stop Lean from going back out, now with silver skin, with no more canary; no more fear of dying while trying, to keep digging.

He basically was addicted to cocaine, xanax, lean, weed while he was in Miami and became crazy and was dressing as a nurse. Then he and a couple of his friends were driving and they crashed and one of them died while on xanax and yung lean ended up in a mental hospital and then he came to live in a small cabin in the woods in sweden for isolation and become clean (which is the house showcased in the video) and he is basically reflecting the things that happened in Miami in this video.

Inbetween feeling like Im on top of the world or feeling like trash on the sidewalk this song does something. Ive fallen short in about everything Ive done and this song gives me inspiration to move forward. Though this song can be very dangerous too if listened to in the wrong mind. Yung lean youve saved so many people and I hope you make more personal tracks like this that people can feel and jam out to. Love.

Anton Litvinov You speak about drug addicts (which lean isnt really maybe a little bit) like theyre literally unhuman trash and have no chance. Lean makes meaningful music, and you have to admit this. What do you consider meaningful? The stupid ass comercial cheesy music about love where the only thing the singer does apart from having millions of dollars is singing a bit and having his or her shit autotuned? Well lean is not far from that but at least he makes his own lyrics with a different and original meaning and has his own style instead of being another piece of commercial shit in a mountain of bullshit. And lean is not that wealthy, or at least does not behave like a posh fuckhead.

I'm better now, therapy and medication and the support of my friends and family have helped me learn to deal with my emotions, if you're struggling in silence please let someone know they will help you i promise you, i wouldn't be here if it weren't for a friend reaching out.
