For anyone watching and interested in trying foraging, here are some responsible foraging tips: 1. Bring a good identification book and be 100% sure of any mushrooms you pick before you eat. 2. Cut or twist at the base of the mushroom, digging up can hurt the mycelium. 3. Please leave some mushrooms behind, like the smaller ones, so there's a better chance for the mushrooms to return next fruiting season. Leaving some will allow more stores to disperse. 4. Please use wicker baskets to haul your forage, allowing for spores to disperse through the weavings of the basket. 5. Please be respectful of nature and try and disturb wild areas as little as possible. Hunt responsibly ❤
@alicewright43225 ай бұрын
I think people should dig up at least one mushroom if there is any doubt on identification, because there could be important traits around the base of the mushroom (volva or its remains, color of mycelium at the base). some of the poison agaricus mushrooms stain yellow only at the very bottom of the base, which you will not see if you cut the mushroom off. after people are certain, and if there are no poison look alikes then they should harvest by cutting as you suggest.

Obligatory warning to viewers: PLEASE DO NOT attempt to forage for mushrooms if you have no extensive foraging experience and without a specialist by your side. There are many dangerously poisonous mushrooms that look almost like their safer counterparts. It is VERY easy to make such mistakes so please, please be careful
@Orwellian-Purple-Grapes-19845 ай бұрын
Yep. These people are pros who've been picking mushrooms in their areas since forever; they know what they're doing. If I were to attempt the same I'd poison myself on the first mushroom I'd pick. Those who don't know what you're doing should just learn to grow your own mushrooms in a contained environment first. I recommend oyster mushrooms, because they're among the easiest to grow.

@martam.w.2528 Hi Martam, I am American and I think your English is very good! Well done friend. The only word I saw that was incorrect is "greatful". The spelling should be "grateful". You are correct that "great" is the correct spelling for the word that means "intensity above the normal". The word for being thankful is spelled "grateful". English is a very odd language that we have multiple spellings for words that sound the same. Sending you best wishes from USA.

The people of Yunnan, with their love for climbing mountains to gather mushrooms, have found a beautiful way to connect with nature and their rich cultural heritage. It’s a simple yet profound joy that brings them closer to the earth and to one another, celebrating the gifts that the mountains offer. This tradition is not just about harvesting mushrooms; it's about cherishing the land, embracing community, and living in harmony with the world around them. And I am Floating Village Life.
