Nsmb looks like Smash bros, looks like Sunshine, looks like Galaxy, looks like Odyssey, looks like Mario kart, looks like Mario party. Worth mentioning- the attacks where Mario and Luigi jump off each other and hit each other with their hammers AREN’T EVEN BROS ATTACKS! Those are the new basic jump and hammer moves, so I called it! And yet, even those look so much fun like the first game’s Bros moves. This game looks so good and I cannot wait.

They never existed!: "Miyamoto hates stories" is a big lie, the the person who made the Rosalina book and Miyamoto BOTH came to conclushion that Galaxy 2 dosn't need much story. Plus he said many times he simply prefers Gameplay focus games rather than story ones. "But Paper Mario!--" Super Paper Mario was bearly a Mario game, So Miyamoto SUGGESTED that "try stick more to the classic Mario world characters" and Tanabe had really bad knowledge aboud Mario world that wasn't "Goomba, Koopa and Shy Guy bad", or "Toads are the only good spiecies" I mean even Paper Jam had friendly Lakitus and Yoshi's. Speaking off.... "What aboud Paper Jam?" ( all from old Miiverse posts ) Alpha Dream where thinking aboud having original characters, but the Paper versions of the main characters made too many characters to handle, so they removed almost all of them in order to make shure that the story won't be messy--words from developers, While you can critique Alpha Dream for taking a wrong direction, but you can not definetly say that the mandates did anything.

You could argue Odyssey was the game that broke the mandate rule. Odyssey did so well because it was the perfect balance of familiar and classic and different and weird. Having new devs work on the title also gave the veterans more confidence in their abilities to test out new ideas. We’re truly in a new golden age of Mario.

Arlo did a video on it a long while back Though as time goes on, we're seeing these mandates clearly not existing for recent titles

I'm really glad we seem to be getting something more akin to Superstar Saga again. The other Mario & Luigi games take place in worlds that are much closer to standard Mario fair, both in location and the kinds of characters you meet, and only really have a couple areas that feel truly different like the dream worlds in Dream Team, Bowser's body in Bowser's Inside Story, and areas conquered by the Shroobs in Partners in Time. Concordia seems like its going to be a very unique location, I really like all the plug-socket people and the neat locations we've seen so far.

One thing I do see repeated is the gimmick of Luigi’s L-shaped exclamation mark, where you can separate Luigi as he salutes and goes somewhere/hits a button/does a minigame. I've seen some people complaining that the normal attacks take too long but the attacks in PM take just as long so I don't get the selective complaining.

Looks like a good game for kids. Seems Tailor made for kids who had never heard of Mario before the film came out. Good. I hope they enjoy it. I would have loved it when I was young

This world reminds me a lot of Dream Team. Lots of cool cities and points of interest like on a vacation. And, considering Odyssey and Wonder, it is probably a smart move to go with that feel for the return of Mario&Luigi.

My only concern is the speed of battling. It got slower after Bowser's Inside Story, and I like good animations for sure! Just don't want battles to drag too much.

So far, the battle flows look pretty fast comparing to at least Bowser's Inside Story, Dream Team, and Paper Jam. I hope it will feel fast too so that the battles doesn't drag on too much.

I think the characters being plugs just feeds into peoples naturals tendency of pareidolia, we all see faces in outlets and it's just makes sense to want to turn them into characters.

I just finished playing Superstar Saga and I have to say, while I struggled with the timing of the attacks, the HUMOR of the game was so unlike other Mario games and I loved it! Very unique and I hope that has traveled over to this game as well.

I must point out: that video we watched is NOT a bros attack. It's the normal jump and hormal hammer command block that they're hitting. So, I guess that the opposite brother is involved in even the most basic "solo" moves. That's some awesome teamwork.

Having these all go into electrical devices makes me think this could easily turn into Mario & Luigi + Monster Hunter thing. Once Astalos comes to town. Fully committing to the Stretch and Squish techniques from 2D animation, so well in 3D is truly giving them an amazing sense of motion in animation. This is a way they could make the movement look smoother and cooler than not using said techniques even on stronger hardware. A technique that can be very scary for 3D model artists, because until you get it just right, you must endure the insane amount of horrible body horror that would persist until it works.
