i kinda hate how people never took this opening era and song seriously... like this "MAMA" concept is their actual group concept, the fact that they're aliens sent here with powers to help the darkness in the world disappear and they're confused and shocked with how corrupt and infected it is here on earth. i really always loved their first songs and the deep lyrics behind them and what they meant to communicate to the audience, in telling their concept and group's story yet also bringing to light actual issues. I agree with you, absolutely. Hopefully sm gives them more songs like this and true jot only Exo L but kpop fans in general and even more people can join and make this world a little better :). I think this song has the best meaning out of all songs in kpop, it’s about respect, what the world has come to, the evil, how we are too obsessed with judging people from social media, loneliness and what people feel and how you should be polite and just be yourself etc. it literally includes so many problems and the fact that this is their whole concept as a group just makes exo a billion times more special.

The first time I read the lyrics to this song, I thought it was exactly how the lyrics were meant to be, you know like help me your Majesty with all these things. But coming back after a few months, I took the lyrics differently. If you read in between the lines sometimes it feels as though they are referring their feelings to the members who left. Like "Why won't we communicate? Why won't we love?" and "We shed tears at the painful reality once again." and other lyrics. I don't know this song just makes me think that EXO-K is talking about Kris, Luhan, and Tao leaving.

This is the first time i listen to exo and HOOOLLLYYY SSSHHHIIIITTT. These voices...the harmonies are so beautifully haunting and it just...ugh...you could say it *SINGS* to me....ewe Okay, but all jokes aside, as an Army listening to EXO for the first time, it makes me wonder why other groups (yes, that includes bts) don't work with complex harmonies like these. Kabzi캅지 I am an ARMY and an EXO-L, and I definitely agree that BTS doesn't harmonize very much. I'm not saying anything against them, of course! It's probably because half the group are rappers, but even among the vocal line, there's not much harmonizing. In songs like House of Cards, one or two members sing together, but the whole band never sings together like EXO does. That's why I like listening to lots of different groups. You get all kinds of different styles!

the bts vocal line is weak(er), and still is. their group was focused on a hip hop style from the beginning, so the vocal line naturally is much weaker than their rap line. bts is mostly unable to harmonize successfully, their voices are more suited for singing solo lines.
