Ok so here's the rundown of why he made an official sequel. He was pissed, saw that sonic.exe was moved to trollpasta. He made a really fucking hilarious rant calling the people who moved it to trollpasta and everyone who disliked the stories "furry haters". He then suggested that everyone who likes the story should complain and draw fanart, calling them the army of X. I like to think that he then sobered up, took a line of acid, looked at what he wrote and then made it into another sonic.exe story.

Which means that if this story takes place in 2011/2012, even if they were 10 when they were playing it, they would be 18-20 years old. Which for ace detectives is INCREDIBLY young. "Sonic.exe 2" was initially posted on the Creepypasta Wiki on March 25, 2012 by JC-the-Hyena before becoming lost media for over 10 years. It has since been rediscovered and republished as "Sonic.exe 2 (2012 Version)" on the Trollpasta Wiki. I wouldn't be surprised if he made this to replace that mess since it clearly got deleted from the Creepypasta Wiki pretty quickly. What would I know? I'm not a detective. 😆

So I've been thinking... How the fuck is Tom "dead" and able to write a story in the first fuckin' person? It makes sense with Derek because of the whole diary thing sure, but Tom's shenanigans totally destroyed my suspension of disbelief (falsely implying I had any for dramatic effect.)

So what I learned from this story is: 1. Derek was stupid. 2. Bob is stupid. 3. Tom is dead (Yay). 4. But so is Kyle (ahhhh). 5. X/Sonic.exe likes speeloing urrors (mispelled on porpoise). 6. No-one in this story knows what grammer is. I've also noticed some Oblivion parallels, they are: 1. X/Sonic.exe is Mehrunes Dagon. 2. The Cult of X is The Mythic Dawn. 3. And the discs are Oblivion Gates (kinda). Can't think of any other similarities, though.

I love this story. My favorite part is the fact that they spend a fuck load of time describing EXE's seven underlings just to never picking them up again. I also like that the cult is pretty much the fellowship of Dead Space but without the mystery of the marker. Or the logic behind following a mysterious artifact instead following a Zalgofied cartoon character. Or the real treath behind the nechromorphs instead of just a bunch of self-concieted assholes shoving CDs into people's computers. Overall. This story is gold.

Sonic heroes came out at the literal end of 2003, a whole 8 years before this story takes place. If Derek remembers playing it as a kid even assuming they were 17 he would be 25 at the time of the story. That is assuming the oldest age he could be, that’s incredibly young for a detective

Honestly looking at this story, it's clear that Hyena was making it up as he went along. There's even a continuity error as the guys from the previous story are mentioned, even by the names that story gave us... even though one of those names was clearly NOT what the character really had, it was a faux name. A lot of elements are added without explanation and have no real relevance, the cult members get shocked when the disc is destroyed despite the fact that essentially all of them are supposed to have a copy.... am I the only one who thinks that it'd be a lot better if the discs worked as a kind of demonic contract? I mean the guy is warned in the first one to specifically NOT play the game and destroy the disc, lo and behold he does so.... thing is, if destroying the disc was that simple, why give to a friend to destroy it? Why not do it yourself and remove the risk of him playing it? You know he's going to play it because who the hell would send you something just so you could break it? Who gives a Sonic fan a free Sonic game they have never played and tell them to not play it? It's like giving a little kid a cookie and telling them to not eat it.
