I’ve never used a chainsaw but needed one for large limbs that fell from an oak tree. Thank you for taking them time to make and post this very informative video.

@YuriTereshyn that's a small saw...so not as much of a kickback risk...probably low kickback chain too...(yes...just heard you confirming this as i type) which I'd throw away immediately..but you use your head, keep your body, legs etc out of the kick back zone...Wear a helmet and ppe.

This is my first time using a chainsaw and you definitely took a lot of the nerves out of using it the first time. Thanks for the video, super helpful. Now time to take some trees down 🦾

As a storm spotter/chaser, I'm thinking about getting an electric chainsaw for myself to use during cleanups after severe weather events so I may just give this one a try as a starter!

Takes a lot of guts to post your very first experience. That said try very hard to keep the chain from dipping into any dirt or onto the ground at all. Also new chains should last you a full season or longer, any service shop should have chain sharpening services about half the price of a new chain.

If you ever have a larger long peice like part of a trunk u need to cut - what u can do is cut like 80% of the way down in several sections, roll the entire piece 180 degrees and then complete all the cuts so you dont bind up the bar. I place/remove utlity poles and if i have to cut sections of an old pole up into managable peices - thats what I do. Never let the blade touch the dirt.

I appreciate this beginners look. I've had one sitting in the box since last season as it's kind of intimidating. Need to finally trim my tree.

Great video, first time here too, father terrified me about garden machines from childhood so it's always a challenge to approach a new one. Thanks!

Luckily, from Wht I saw, u didn’t put the chain in the dirt with the chain spinning. One of the quickest ways to dull the chain out. Seeing tht it’s ur first time using one, u did great. Only thing I would recommend is, get a couple extra chain sets just incase, and also learn to sharpen the chains as u go along. Then u should b all squared away

Did pretty good for your first time. I have this one and it was my first chainsaw. It’s been a good little chainsaw. One of my favorites.

Just learn to sharpen the chain. Oregon makes an electric handheld sharpener that easy to use and does a decent job to sharpen the chain.

Take off them hearing protectors. At the 8:35 mark.. do an UNDERCUT all the way through it.. Only because the support log is to the right of your cut. When the end is overhanging..(support log is on the left, do a Topdown cut. It won't pinch the saw when your almost through the cut. Yo can even start on top.. but only go 50% through and then finish the cut going from the bottom up.

I read elsewhere the 18” bar with chain will fit this chainsaw. Be interesting to see if it is true and further what the motor difference is between the latest brushless 14” v the 18” version. May be the same motor too so a possible way to upgrade easily and save a few $.
@bobbystewart2605

It is possible to put the bigger bar on it (I’ve done it on a different saw but they use the style bar) and it would power it. Only thing is, the bigger saws have bigger motors from the factory to push those bars better, so the 14” won’t b able to power it as good as the bigger saws, unfortunately. I’ve put a 14” bar on the 18v HP 10”saw and it powered it ok but not as good as the OE 10” bar. Still did the job tho.

This model looks older than latest version, as the bar attachment is now easier and toolless. Easier to also tension the bar with the new tensioning ring too. No longer need socket tool. Perhaps your country has different laws than mine for chainsaws and bar fitting but I am surprised this video is only a few days old so I assume it’s the latest model available there.

There’s newer models. I just wanted a small 14” and I don’t think there are newer 14” chainsaws

Never ever use any portion close to the tip …. Always towards the body and never have holding high where kickback could hit face

Would like to know how long the batteries last or if they die sitting around. I do not know why you bought a new chain, you had a new chain on, all you need is a file. As for that guy that says they stay sharp a whole season obviously has not used saws much. You can think a log is clean, but might have sand in bark and will dull it asap, so you use your file and make it new again

It all depends on the work ur doing with it. If it’s just the saw, probably about 30-45 minutes with the factory battery (they make bigger ones) and they do lose charge after awhile but not tht bad. As for tht part abt sharpening, it depends on the wood u cut. It could last awhile but usually not.

@@bobbystewart2605 I am guessing you have very little time with chainsaws. I have run saws in logging industry all my life and ran dangle head processors and we always sharpened the chains, they are not throw away and for a home owner a chain could last many years, IF you know how to sharpen a saw
