Yury Vesnyak - Ballade in C# minor (2004)

Although i don't personally prefer modern composition styles such us minimalism, this piece left to me a good impression and i liked it. The reason is that despite the modern feeling (i mean no counterpoint, simple themes etc) it is well developed with modulations and interesting melodic lines combined with an expressive interpretation , it was worth listening !!

To me, this sounds rather kitschy, with a lot of pop-neoromantic tropes, technically and structurally simplistic, but very effective at what it does, with a very clean sort of lushness, and has some very lovely chord progressions and modulations. It also looks quite rewarding to play (difficulty doesn't seem to be a big issue), with lots of room for expressiveness. This aesthetic is rather hard to pull off without sounding overly sentimental, so thank you for bringing this to life!

This is the problem with the piece, isn't it? Although pretty, it is a bit formulaic. Not enough counterpoint, looks to me like a long exercise. Having said that, you did a great job playing it.
