To Mr Harari my deepest gratitude. You have shown me where we, the human, came from and opened the door to let us see where we will all be. When my mind was oppressed by unsatisfactory, uneasy and unkind thoughts I looked for you on KZbin. Your knowledge amazed me. Your wisdom uplifted me. Your untiring belief in our capacity to be better lightened up my thinking. And the feeling of gratitude toward you manifested calmly and warmly and deeply in me. May you be in good health for the benefit of many. 🍁🙏🍁

An observation: much of this conversation cycled around many times to judgement of others, likes, feeling accepted etc. The first comment I read was a judgment and dislike of another person’s laugh… which is a sound of joy emitted by humans. “Not wanting humans to be as I prefer them to be”…. Interesting. Loved the conversation and the input of all three. Thank you!🙏💜

@@singhskeptic5742 To be honest I still don't exactly understand what mindfulness meditation is. I understand what people think it is. What I can say is that how a few trustworthy people over the years have described the benefits of mindfulness meditation seems to me to be more or less equivalent to reading a good book, but in the sense that somebody has gone and done the work for you and is gifting you with a portal into that potential. Maybe it's not the best way to describe it but I'm too lazy to erase what I've already typed. Anyway, it's a very good book.

"To go deep, silence and boredom is essential." 🙏❤✨️ John and Yuval are two of the wisest minds. I do wish their perspectives were integrated into political and business leadership. As someone teaching mindfulness in marketing and consumer behavior, I've observed an interesting trend. When my students analyze their social media use, the most common reason they cite is alleviating boredom. This reveals a cultural shift: we've lost our capacity to be comfortable with idle moments. We tend to fill every free second with information, often through our devices. This constant stimulation leaves little room for imagination, reflection, and genuine creativity. By learning to embrace moments of 'boredom,' we might rediscover the value of letting our minds wander and spark new ideas.

I enjoyed this discussion and noticed that an important piece of scientific research is lacking. This research is focused on the neurobiological development of the "mind" based on attachment theory and self-regulation. To stop "clinging" to the ego is most difficult because we experience profound terror without it. Ego (or self) is acquired through a multitude of earliest care-giver interactions that have survival as the goal. While awareness cultivated through meditation is great., there is often a fundamental vulnerability born of interpersonal trauma that remains unhealed. Yuval's self-disclosure on stage hints at this vulnerability. The work of Allan Schore provides a great perspective on the understanding needed to create the change desired by Jon Kabat Zinn. I believe that compassion is most useful when focused on the actual lived experience of emotions associated with attachment vulnerability..

It's hard to hear Mr. Harari with frequent and fairly uncontrolled bursts of laughter by Mr. Gordhamer and (as I see them) mindless interruptions by Mr. Kabat-Zinn. Mr. Kabat-Zinn goes on and on in long, cluttered, barely organized paragraphs, pushing and pushing his agenda, nearly selling it. Pushing it as a panacea. Mr. Harari is the only one in this conversation who seems to practice what he preaches - his speech is clear, free of clutter, he does not interrupt others nearly as often as Mr. Kabat-Zinn and does not monopolize the conversation.

What each of us focus on becomes the reality when that focus becomes so common that a tipping point is achieved. Therefore, we should be careful of what we focus on. Anyone looking at blockbuster Hollywood movies, and games, in the last 40 years can see that we've been focused on horror and death. Little wonder that this is what we've therefore begun to bring into existence. We need to be more careful of what we allow into our head.

Sorry but Soren was not a good choice for this panel. The awkward laughing for one. But he just doesn’t add to the discussion imo.

I liked his laugh and energy in general. Good for the atmosphere all together I think

Agreed just was very distracting for some reason. I hate to even comment negatively about a video trying to espouse positivity, but that laugh was almost infuriating to me.

I thought he added a lightness to the discussion. doesn't always have to be heavy and serious all the time, even for serious discussions.

Yuval is a treasure. An example on so many levels. No Ego throughout this conversation. He was summoned as the Center of this Conversation. And fo good reason. Kabat's EGO sadly did not get he message, His self important ramblings were embarrassing to listen to. As he would try to dominate the other participant only to ramble with a self omportant question about the benefits of invoking Buddhism and then about ridding a train and on and on and on....Yuval sits patiently and respectfully as Jon is blind to the fact that people came not for his wisdom but Yuval's. Sadly, i did not have such patience, Knowing i can listen to Yuval on many other platforms. Thank you for your example Yuval

The phrase "Nothing whatsoever should be clung to as 'I' or 'mine'" is attributed to the Buddha and encapsulates the Buddhist teachings on non-attachment and the concept of anattā (non-self). This teaching encourages individuals to recognize the impermanent and interdependent nature of all phenomena, thereby reducing attachment to the self and possessions. By understanding that clinging to the notions of 'I' and 'mine' leads to suffering, one can cultivate a more liberated and harmonious existence. This principle is central to Buddhist practice, guiding adherents toward the realization of nirvana by letting go of egoistic attachments and embracing the transient nature of life.
