Interesting. Loved the conversation and the input of all three. Thank you!🙏💜

"To go deep, silence and boredom is essential." 🙏❤✨️ John and Yuval are two of the wisest minds. I do wish their perspectives were integrated into political and business leadership. As someone teaching mindfulness in marketing and consumer behavior, I've observed an interesting trend. When my students analyze their social media use, the most common reason they cite is alleviating boredom. This reveals a cultural shift: we've lost our capacity to be comfortable with idle moments. We tend to fill every free second with information, often through our devices. This constant stimulation leaves little room for imagination, reflection, and genuine creativity. By learning to embrace moments of 'boredom,' we might rediscover the value of letting our minds wander and spark new ideas.

Although I also appreciate humour and laughter, I just at times found the constant loud laughing of the interviewer distracting and not in tune with the context of the dialogue.
@terrencehoffman6811Ай бұрын
I enjoyed this discussion and noticed that an important piece of scientific research is lacking. This research is focused on the neurobiological development of the "mind" based on attachment theory and self-regulation. To stop "clinging" to the ego is most difficult because we experience profound terror without it. Ego (or self) is acquired through a multitude of earliest care-giver interactions that have survival as the goal. While awareness cultivated through meditation is great., there is often a fundamental vulnerability born of interpersonal trauma that remains unhealed. Yuval's self-disclosure on stage hints at this vulnerability. The work of Allan Schore provides a great perspective on the understanding needed to create the change desired by Jon Kabat Zinn. I believe that compassion is most useful when focused on the actual lived experience of emotions associated with attachment vulnerability..
@yossarian67Ай бұрын
So you’re saying that vipassana or other meditation techniques don’t treat certain traumas but the work of Allan Schore does address these traumas? More info please… I’ve wondered just how effective meditation is for dealing with attachment wounds etc

It's hard to hear Mr. Harari with frequent and fairly uncontrolled bursts of laughter by Mr. Gordhamer and (as I see them) mindless interruptions by Mr. Kabat-Zinn. Mr. Kabat-Zinn goes on and on in long, cluttered, barely organized paragraphs, pushing and pushing his agenda, nearly selling it. Pushing it as a panacea. Mr. Harari is the only one in this conversation who seems to practice what he preaches - his speech is clear, free of clutter, he does not interrupt others nearly as often as Mr. Kabat-Zinn and does not monopolize the conversation.

What each of us focus on becomes the reality when that focus becomes so common that a tipping point is achieved. Therefore, we should be careful of what we focus on. Anyone looking at blockbuster Hollywood movies, and games, in the last 40 years can see that we've been focused on horror and death. Little wonder that this is what we've therefore begun to bring into existence. We need to be more careful of what we allow into our head.

The phrase "Nothing whatsoever should be clung to as 'I' or 'mine'" is attributed to the Buddha and encapsulates the Buddhist teachings on non-attachment and the concept of anattā (non-self). This teaching encourages individuals to recognize the impermanent and interdependent nature of all phenomena, thereby reducing attachment to the self and possessions. By understanding that clinging to the notions of 'I' and 'mine' leads to suffering, one can cultivate a more liberated and harmonious existence. This principle is central to Buddhist practice, guiding adherents toward the realization of nirvana by letting go of egoistic attachments and embracing the transient nature of life.
