There are patterns of behaviour that basically hold true for people no matter, and so whenever you see something that jars with the _expected_ behaviour you can pretty much guarantee that there's a reason. And you can pretty much guarantee that the reason will be one of three things: sex, power, or sex and power. That shit never gets old. It makes the world turn. It makes people _do_ things. Anyway, I'm just waffling, and I'm only doing so cos I almost never come across comments like yours. Usually you say something like "but that doesn't make any sense! Why the hell would he... (fill the blank)" and people just go "oh, who knows!?!? It's not important. So he did... (the blank)? What does it matter? Maybe he didn't have a reason, maybe he just did it!" Which would be ok, but these same people have never "just done" something without thinking about it first. Sometimes you just don't have access to enough information to be able to tell why something has happened, but usually you do, you don't need much. Most of life is just "noise". You know, like radio static. Most of our conversations, most of the events we attend, most of the jobs we do, most of our lives are just noise. There are important bits, of course, but most of everything we do is just done serving another purpose. We're polite to our boss so that we don't get fired. We work because we need the money for the (blank...). We need the (blank...) because we want to impress that girl (or guy). And we need to impress her (or him) because otherwise they won't notice us and then we'll never get to sleep with them. So why did we get up early and lie to someone's face every day and save up every cent we could for 15 months straight? So we could fuck (fill in the blank...) Simple. You do get exceptions to this rule, of course. Drugs are a powerful motivator for a lot of people. More than you might think, anyway. And of course just shit like fame, or success, or maintaining a certain self-image, but in general it all comes down to sex or power... unless it happens to be sex _and_ power. Preliminary thoughts: • Zeus is usually like Zeus, a statue. But while they're waiting here he's unusually animated. He keeps looking for the car, he draws her close to him (usually a control thing), he subconsciously adjusts his clothes (usually agitation or anxiety about an upcoming event), and he touches his chest (usually to give yourself a slight self-confidence check). • The girl isn't self-conscious while they're waiting. So she probably doesn't know what's coming. But something _massive_ happens when the car does turn up. • She moves awkwardly as Zeus usher's her into the car. She leans _away_ from him, her gait artificially contracts, and her toes point in. She certainly doesn't look as though she's happy about getting in that car, does she! • As she's turning to sit down she looks at Zeus as though she's saying "I can't believe this. Are you seriously going to make me sit here? Why are you being such a prick about this? Do you really hate me this much?" Idk, there's a _lot_ to unpack there. Gimme some time. • Once in she looks slightly shaken, or deflated at least. She keeps her body compact, puts her head down, breathes in. Then exhales, lifts her head and smoothes her hair back (she's saying to her herself "oh God, this situation sucks! What the hell's going on? Alright, well c'mon, let's just get through the ride first, we can't deal with it now anyway". Then she laughs (in response to the drivers comment (probably something about Zeus. Probably something inane and not relevant here.) • The bodyguard just looks normal. He has a slightly inward-facing stance towards Zeus and her, which is something that you wouldn't expect if he was worried about fall-out from him having had an affair with her. But then he could be passively asserting his dominance too. "You guys might be wealthy, but you're really just losers, cos I'm nailing your girl." It could be nothing, it probably is nothing. Like I said before, you just can't read anything off him. • The driver seems normal too. Relaxed body. Relaxed movements. Smiling, even makes a joke. Again, not what you'd expect with so much tension around, but then if he's a _lot_ wealthier than the rest, and if he has nothing to feel morally inferior about, then it's possible he's just forcing the bravado. • They all drive away laughing, but at least two of them aren't happy. Zeus IS NOT TIGHT WITH HIS LADY! Later... •
