To be fair aura bots / support characters are extremely effective. POE is not that free, you will need to spend the coins you get from buying early access on extra stash tabs from the cash shop. A POE player is expected to spend 30-40$ to have a comfortable amount of stash room. But once you have them you don't need to buy them again, I would say POE is free to try out but not to play in any serious way.

@@Ulubai ggg won't do that to us. one of the best builds i've ever played was the self ignite chieftain, it was a spell caster on the chieftain ascendancy for the marauder which is basically the warrior in POE 2. also pretty much any weapon/skill is gonna be pretty great on the gemling legionnaire ascendancy of the mercenary. I don't think GGG made it clear enough how diverse the builds are going to be and how important it is that the different classes can use the different weapons/skills. basically you just want to pick an ascendancy that looks like it has stats/mechanics that you like, and then pick whatever skill/weapon you want to use. i'm probably gonna do a mercenary gemling legionnaire and go for a minion build. just sounds fun to me

ok so if im understanding the gem skill system right, then just with what they showed us you could make a crazy warrior build. bear with me for a moment. you get the warrior ascendancy that lets you warcry with no cooldown, you get the lava fissure skill ( or what it was called ) and the ancestral totem skill, you make your ancestral totem use the lava fissure and try to support it with more ignite chance/buildup. you then get a stomp/smash/charge skill that makes a lot of shockwaves to combo with the lava skill and the warcry skill that doubles your next shockwave, you then take the cast on ignite skill gem and put the skockwave totem on it. and so you use the ancestral totem spirit it lavas the ground you warcry then stomp, eventually the cast on ignite will spawn a shockwave totem ( hopefully it works this way ) on the ignited enemy that probably died inside/near a lava fissure then it activates any stomp you make and if i saw it correctly it also shockwaves by itself ( on a cooldown it seems) so it also triggers the lava burst and possibly ignites more enemies that spawns more totems and makes more shockwaves. the only thing that would make this better is a "cast on stun" gem ( please exist) to trigger the warcry by itself so you'd only need to occasionaly spawn the "lava fissure totem" and slam/stomp any enemy you see. and this is all without seeing any other skill gems or support gems that might enchance any part of the combo. And ofc the passive tree, i just know there is a node somewhere about totems and i cant wait to see it.

In case anyone didnt know poe1 is one of those games where having volume low or turned off is a performance improvement to your FPS and risk of crashing, not as bad as it used to be but its a weird quirk for a game to have.

Yeah, the only class specific thing inaccessible to other classes in the game are the ascendancy trees. Any item, skill, or even skill points on the regular skill tree are accessible to every class. Also the good thing about PoE2 is that nobody has any clue what builds are good, so there are no meta builds.

It ramps more. Normal 1-3 is slow and meticulous. Cruel 1-3 gets quicker, then maps ramp up to feeling like PoE1.

saying: "we all know what's the better game" is wild considering one of them has yet to be released while the other one has millions of active players... I'm sure PoE 2 will be amazing but ppl right now are praising a promise and not a product. personally I only know one person who prefers PoE over any other ARPG and everyone else is split between D2,3 and 4 and Grim Dawn.

I have never met anyone whose gotten to maps in PoE and prefers D3/4. The reason people are saying these things, however, is because GGG has a very very good track record. They listen to the community and reach accordingly. They've always been transparent and owned up to their mistakes. The community had a LOT of trust in them. Not to mention, those developers on the Livestream? They play their game. And not just a little, Mark usually competes in the race to 100. Watch him in any Q&A and he usually can answer even obscure questions on mechanics sometimes even off the top of this head. The only reason to prefer D3/D4 over PoE is because of its complexity. PoE1 is difficult for beginners, and it's perfectly fine to enjoy the more casual approach that current Diablo games offer. But it's definitely the superior game. There's more customization. More content. More everything.

@RavenL1337 wild. I have 200 hours in D4. that was enough to experience pretty much every build. There's nothing left for me. I even keep up with the seasons and notes in case something interesting comes along. It hasn't. I never, ever suggested that D4 has less players. Off course it has more. It's heavily marketed and appeals to a far more casual audience. Only something like 10% of the playerbase for most games interact with it outside of the game itself. The level of difficulty between the games isn't when the issue. The issue is that D4 has such a small level of customization that you're only playing basically developer curated builds. The items are wholly uninteresting because they all amount to squeezing out a few more percentages of damage. This is great for people who don't want to invest. They can pick up the game and have fun. And that's absolutely great! Even I have fun with that on occasion! In comparison PoE1 gives you a much greater return for in investment. The more you put into it, the greater the return. There's wild combinations. There's crazy mechanics to play with. The only people who I've ever seen, in any interaction, who think d4 is a better game, is the people who haven't or won't or can't put the investment into PoE in order to see the return. And that's fine. But D4 is not the better game. Just because it has more players. Next you'll be telling me that DFO is the greatest MMO because it makes the most money

@@yllarius OK, I didn't want to ignite a discussion here. You make some good points about the trust that the PoE community has in GGG to deliver a good game. Here is my issue: whenever I see/hear comments like: "we all know what's the better game", "it's (PoE) definitely the superior game" and "D4 is not the better game." I just cringe because it's an opinion and not a fact but ppl say it as if it was a fact. the only objective metrics (non-opinion based) we have are: concurrent player numbers, number of total hours played, number of retained/returning players and numbers of copies sold and money made. on most if not all of these accounts D4 wins against PoE1. After all that I am still not stupid enough to say that D4 is better than PoE, but I will say that I in MY OPINION D4 is a slightly better game than PoE1. BTW: not only did I reach maps in every league I played but I also completed my atlas multiple times and I only have played around 700h (3 different leagues Sanctum, crucible and ancestor) and have spent over 480$ on the game during that time alone and got access to the PoE2 beta bc of that and at some point I will play it. I would have never done that if I thought PoE1 was bad. I don't even think PoE is complex at all, it's unnecessarily convoluted for sure. my guess is that it's to make it less obvious that ALL builds in the game are "basically developer curated builds" as well and to give you the illusion of choice because you have the option to play an inferior build. there is always a "best in Slot" in every game and it's not the player base that decides what is, it's always the developer. the players are only there to "discover" what's best in slot and Blizzard is just more obvious about what's BIS than GGG.

It's not. But also, I think your additional points are poorly argued and disagree with much of your conclusions. POE and D4 target very different audiences, and it seems that POE2 is a step towards something a bit closer to the middle (as well as an opportunity to fix and improve the game engine in ways that are impossible in POE1).
