Minus a few issues, at least Yuzu looks and runs better than on the Switch 🤣 That alone is enough to be grateful for while the devs continue to work on it

the biggest place yuzu needs to catch up is also in the small details like the weapon fuse icons being broken still. i'm two temples in and the game is holding at 60fps, the frame time could use some work. but every time i wake up a new EA release is ready!

Yep, i fully agree on this. I would also say something is just wrong with the grass, it looks super blurry and flickery in the distance, weirdly enough i don't remember it being like this on older versions and it's definitely not caused by mods since i tested that too. At the very least the fuse icons can be fixed by dropping the weapons and picking it back up, a little annoying but not super ground breaking, the other thing turning off the async shader builder makes sure your fuse icons display properly too.

I run it on Yuzu and Cemu. Cemu looks much better, has a better interface and keeps 60fps like a champ.

I didn't read the title closely and thought it was BOTW/BOTW.. Cemu is amazing, but i am really impressed with how well yuzu is doing now.. It would be great if some day yuzu botw would compare to or exceed cemu in quality.

I would love to compare it to botw but botw doesn't have a dynamic fps mod for Yuzu yet, which makes the comparison very unfair, running a 60 fps mod on yuzu is possible for BOTW but it will result in the game running slower than originally intended. Genuinely this makes TOTK to be the contender for comparison due to community support and the mod scene constantly improving the game, as well as yuzu genuinely having better funds/more supporters now it is not crazy to see a very big improvement in the upcoming 1-2 years :).

Nope, actually comparing botw to botw would be more unfair, due to the lack of dynamic fps mod for botw yuzu the game would run in slowmotion, it would make it literally unfair comparison, it's explained at the beginning of the video roughly. Here's what happens when you run botw at 60 in yuzu Due to lack of fps++ for yuzu, botw would run at 75% speed if fps is 45, link would be slower and the rest of the world as well, this makes it straight up impossible to make a comparison with unlocked fps. Or the opposite effect is true as well, where the game would run faster if you use emulation speed This is because people didn't make a dynamic fps for BOTW YUZU. Totk got it straight away ofc because it's the only way to play totk, yuzu botw is neglected heavily because Cemu exists and it's clearly much much better Also another note, totk and botw use the same map so it is definitely not unfair :) different story if the map was different tho

Are there any reasons as to why yuzu and other switch emulators are so far behind cemu? I feel like it should almost be the opposite considering that switch has a much bigger player base than wii u, and in turn developers should have a bigger incentive to optimize switch emulators.

Cemu has had far longer to be optimized and perfected for BOTW (about 6 years). These recent 3D/open-world Zelda games are quite taxing games and thus their respective emulators need more time to evolve into something playable and well performing. The switch emulators weren't as popular as now because there wasn't a title as hyper-popular among switch gamers as TOTK. Cemu probably had a much better playerbase than yuzu because of the fact that the software was far more mature and stable. For many there's now an incentive to use the switch emulators now.

@@dembajalloh104 yeah that makes a lot of sense. I'm genuinely considering learning to program and attempt working on improving yuzu performance. But currently I have absolutely no idea of where to even begin. I don't even know what emulators actually do in the first place. But just having this as a little project of mine could never hurt, learning how to optimize emulation is probably a very difficult task that requires a lot of time and effort. But it seems pretty interesting so I'll see what I could learn from this.

This is how everyone starts, we all start from somewhere, this entire KZbin thing and my Reddit page was started because i loved totk so much i wanted people to experience the same love i had for the game :)

@@amok8938 I know nothing about it either, just except in the name: emulation = to imitate something. Emulating in general is much more demanding than using the original hardware that the software was designed for. For example the nintendo switch has hardware that is more inferior than the hardware in mid/upper class pc's. It's the fact that the software was intentionally built upon the given hardware that it runs so well, even with lower specs. Our pc's on the other hand aren't directly compatible with that software made for the switch. That's where emulators come in, because they effectively 'translate' it into a language pc's understand but that compromises performance in return. Emulation doesn't just emulate the switch cpu, but also all other hardware like sound-hardware, graphics-chips, the display. Simply put, rmulating has to simulate all quirks of the switch while doing so only in software which is not an easy task. That needs to be done in assembly language (=programming language that is so primitive that you can make almost anything but is hell at efficient coding).

I'm reading about it right now but from what I can find, assembly languages are tied to one specific computer achictecture, meaning that it's not portable to other devices. Then how come software like yuzu works all kinds of different devices? Or is the assembly language for yuzu specific for switch hardware, and that it then translates it to pc language? If you know what I mean.

No, as said in the video this is a direct comparison between breath of the wild on cemu and tears of the kingdom on yuzu, this is possible because they both have the same map and enemies, therefore the performance can be fairly tested, the intention of this video is to see how far away yuzu is from cemu and also to be used as a benchmark for people's expected performance on yuzu emulator If you want to get around 60 fps on yuzu, your pc has to be capable of getting 120 fps on botw cemu for example.
