Hands down one of the most amazing videos I've seen. that perfect 3A as his last-second jumping pass in the FS is iconic. as if pulling out his planned content wasn't difficult enough, the fact that he can also calculate layout changes on the spot is insanely impressive. I could never concentrate on those two things (skating and planning layout) at once- especially not under the amount of pressure that he's in during these competitions.
@krone0927 Жыл бұрын
I think he also changes the layout when he sees how high the scores of the skaters before him gets. He's truly a genius.

4:57 showed how fast he is. He was dragged back by his own speed. Antis whiny about how he is not powerful like he used to be when he actually just getting stronger in his every comeback. I don't know how it even possible.

@moma-b2 жыл бұрын
I think this is something one who really follows the sport knows. Probably commentators are commenting on the changes right on the spot. I wonder how are the other skaters, this may not be so unique, I think they develop this skill if they do competitive skating as part of their profession.

now that yuzuru pulled a 3A-eu-3s as his last jumping pass today I immediately thought about how this video needs an update now lmao
@henni14755 жыл бұрын
Same thought 😂😂😂 However. I think, the YOLO 4T+3T was even more spectacular, since he had never attempted it in Origin before and the music was incredibly fast at that point. 3A+1Eu+3S was his final jumping pass last season already (in Helsinki and Saitama), so at least familiar to him. Insane effort nevertheless.

The end results of the skate are easy to find, but where can I find the original planned layout? Thank you!
@henni14753 жыл бұрын
@@ereiniongil-galad Sometimes the planned layout gets published temporarily on the ISU event page, but it's rare to find it after the competition. Most of the planned layout sheets get deleted quickly. (And it has to be said that some planned layouts have nothing to do with the actual skate. Boyang Jin is a specialist of submitting joke layouts with 4A+1Eu+3S in the second half and stuff :D)

Ugh... Olympics 2018, he crushed that event by being freaking smart while he was skating. Talk about grace under multitudes of pressure. The mental strength of this man is just incomprehensible. Rostelecom Cup 2018 costed him a whole lot of events in 2019. I just hope his body can catch up with his passion in 2020.

Thank you! Yuzuru has it all in his calculations. How tough it must be to do recovery jumps and calculate how to increase BV DURING the program. He does it.
@henni14755 жыл бұрын
It must be incredibly hard. You have to execute your elements (which itself is physically and mentally very demanding), focus on your performance and take care of the rules on top. Many top skaters got elements invalidated in the past because of miscalculation. Fernandez for example missed the Olympic podium in Sochi, because he attempted one more combo in the free than allowed. Aliev repeated too many jumps in his FS at SA last week and his second 3T got 0 points.
@blueflame12076 жыл бұрын
WOW! Great video. Well done. Yuru is really a smart guy with great skating skill. I don't even know how can he pull all these up under the pressure and in such short amount of time during competition. Hope he can recover well and continue to do what he loves.
I'm quite curious, is this ability to quickly recalculate and change the layout during performance something unique or other skaters do it too? I would expect the latter, though, maybe the level he mastered it to is unique.
@ereiniongil-galad2 жыл бұрын
@@moma-b I'm not sure how unique this skill is among skaters, but I do know that Evgenia Medvedeva has also done this before.
@moma-b2 жыл бұрын
@@ereiniongil-galad I'm constantly watching videos and it seems the level he can do it is definitely something unique. I assume he constantly counts scores while he is performing and he knows exactly when he makes mistakes and probably he also has several "saving" alternatives prepared in his mind, in case he makes mistakes. Plan A, plan B, plan C, plan D etc. He has mastered how to take advantage of the scoring system.

Thank you! Well, I started to follow figure skating in December 2016. At the beginning I had no clue about the rules, elements and the judging system myself. There were jumps and spins, but that's it. It took me hours and weeks and years to dive into this sport and my motivation to create these videos is to help beginners and get a quick overview 😊 The most important steps: 1. watch a lot of skating. Upcoming livestreams or old videos, different disciplines, senior/junior, competition/practice/gala/shows... to get to know different facets of skating and what's humanly possible on the ice. 2. Take the scoresheet of an old competition and try to identify the technical elements in the programs in slow motion. Replay them many times, if necessary. 3. Try to construct different jump layouts that are allowed in competition. I asked myself, what the highest theoretical score in the current judging system could be and experimented a bit with different layouts. That helped a lot to understand and dive into the rulebook.

Could someone explain the ISU rules at 1:00? Since he turned a 4T into a 3T that would mean his program would have two 3T, so where's the problem? Sorry new to skating.
@henni14754 жыл бұрын
You are only allowed to repeat two different triples in the free. But with 3T, 3A and 3Lz it would have been three repeated triples in that program. So the final triple Lutz would have been called invalid by the tech panel and received 0 points. That's why Yuzuru decided to turn one 3T into a double and keep both Lutzes, which are more valuable.

Some expert please explain what he can do after he popped his first 4s in the short program in Beijing Olympics.
@henni14752 жыл бұрын
The only thing he could have done is to jump a combo of a higher base value (like 4Lz+3T). In the short program there is no room for any big layout changes, because the jump elements all have fix requirements.
@diem26435 жыл бұрын
i wonder another skaters do it too?
@henni14755 жыл бұрын
At the 2018 Olympics Alina Zagitova missed her first 3Lz+3Lo attempt in her freeskate and improvised a second one successfully. That secured her the gold medal. Many skaters who miss their jump combination in the short program, try to add a 3T to the solo jump later, but only few attempts are successful. It's very challenging to calculate points, avoid repetition errors and focus on the performance at the same time. Javier Fernandez missed the Olympic podium in Sochi 2014, because he repeated an invalid jump by mistake. Same with Patrick Chan in his SP at the GPF 2015. He popped his 4T into a 3T and forgot about the repetition rule. His complete 3Lz+3T combo received 0 points.
